They were over Philly last Tuesday, but I missed them.
Dad was in the Air Force 21+ years, then I did 20. I've seen both teams many, many times.
I worked on airplanes while I was in. I still think they're fun to watch as they fly over.
Still bummed I missed 'em last week!

Steve my daughter took that pic so I didn't actually get to see them either but what a cool thing that was. They flew over all the major hospitals in Atlanta with a tip of the wing at each!

When my wife was teaching elementary school, one year she took her class on a field trip to see the Blue Angels air show at the former Dallas Naval Air Station. As the show ended a sudden thunderstorm popped up (they do that in Texas) and she along with the other teachers had to hustle the children back to their school busses.

In the process she got caught in the storm. As the hard rain and wind hit she sought shelter on the lee side of a building. About that time a blue van with U.S. Navy insignia on the door screeched to a halt beside her, the sliding door opened and the young men inside asked if they could give her a ride.

She got in, and soon realized the other passengers were the Navy pilots, still wearing their flight suits. The same Blue Angels she had just seen perform! They delivered her to her bus. Years later, she still talks about it!

With a nod to our Canadian friends, I had the opportunity to see their stunt team, The Snowbirds of the Royal Canadian Air Force, at the Dayton (Ohio) Air Show back in '82.

I've been out to that Air Show Ken. They always put on a good show. Great story from your wife.

Well I guess this is miscellaneous stuff. I've put together three shadow boxes with
lapel pins and other memorabilia items from my time with the USO and a DPS Security Officer
at DFW Airport.

Well, we named a local lake after Lady Bird and she donated our Wildflower Center so I give her credit. I was really not a fan of her husband but I shouldn't let that cloud the issue.

Lady Bird was certainly instrumental in wild flowers being sown throughout the state. I think they are all respectable and ladies.

Ike, you just need to come to Texas in April. As you would expect, the wildflower bloom starts generally in the south part of the state and works its way north. My recommendation would be to come to the Texas Hill Country in April. Great scenery there but there are wildflowers all over the state. I’m in north central Texas between DFW and the Red River, the Indian Paintbrush and Bluebonnets are finishing up here now but the Firewheel, Mexican Hat, Primrose and others are just starting their show.

As for your question, all were gracious ladies, and represented both our country and our state with grace and dignity. Each has left her own legacy. I couldn’t make a choice of one over the others. We are fortunate to have had them represent us.

I recall from the sixties being impressed with the universal praise that Lady Bird Johnson received even from the political enemies of her husband. Concerning her planting initiative, I do wish other states would follow the Texas example.

Sadly, with the timing of our rains, this season...our bluebonnets were almost nonexistent.

Better keep a close eye on him Joe. My truck is still in the shop. viewtopic.php?f=21&t=23880&start=6660#p810774 There was so much damage they had to order parts that rarely if ever go bad, so they don’t keep them in stock. Then when the parts came in the mechanic who specializes in electrical stuff tested positive for Covid-19 and has been in quarantine the past week, with at least another week to go. Fortunately I’m not going anywhere anyway.

I’d recommend putting some mothballs or something in your engine compartment, just to be safe.

The Chippers are still denned up here....I keep a pellet rifle ready for those little guys one at each door...last spring they nawed the gas tank up on my push mower I shoot everyone I can in my yard...I think they've been out but we had the temp drop off before I got back...went shrooming Thursday and didn't notice any that day...they chewed wiring up on neighbors Harley a few years back control module was big $$$

RE: Squirrels and vehicles

As I mentioned earlier, my Prius was totaled by a squirrel back in December 2016. I know it was a squirrel based on the red fur all over a glue trap I kept under the hood for catching mice, and my red heeler was too large to fit under the hood.

I started fighting rodents in vehicles when my mother's Toyota Camry had $3,400+ in damage due to mice chewing on wiring.

My combat methods are - 2 glue traps under the hood of every vehicle, mothballs in socks tied under the hood and also placed in the trunk, multiple snap traps baited beef jerky TIED to the trip lever and set at all times in the garage (checked daily).

You may ask "Why do all these rodents keep chewing on wires in vehicles?"

The answer is very simple - back in the early 2000s, to make the greenies happy, almost ALL wiring insulation was changed from a petroleum based plastic to corn oil or soy bean oil based plastic. Still insulates, but it has an additional "feature" of retaining an odor of corn or soy beans that rodents can smell. Therefore, the little bustards eat it even though it has ZERO nutritional value after having been converted to plastic.

I was speaking with a local Nissan dealer back in 2017 who told me they had over 200 vehicles damaged by mice and rats when they parked them "down the hill" in the pasture between their paved car lot and the creek at the bottom of the hill while the parking lots was being resurfaced during the December 2016 Christmas period.

With 2 cars, a pickup and 2 tractors, I average 5 mice caught under hoods per month.

Zz that is the same thing the John Deere dealer told me a couple of years ago after rats chewed up the wiring in my tractor. Along with the diesel return hose and coolant return hose. They’re attracted by the smell of the soy or corn-based “rubber substitute” in the insulation and hoses.

QS, whatever that yellow blooming stuff is, you’ve got a good crop of it. Looks like wild mustard but it’s a little early for it.
