The Russian Defense Ministry released unprecedented photographs from a meeting of US and Soviet troops on April 25, 1945, near the city of Torgau on the Elbe River in Germany.

Cool pictures! Ken — sorry about your truck! Darn squirrels..Anyway – – here’s a sign me and a few other people pitched in to get my uncle for his garage for his 72nd birthday … His garage is the neighborhood hang out during normal times… He loved it… Anybody looking for a cool gift for someone— these are on Amazon, very reasonable ..just type custom neon signs into their search engine

Yeah, I noticed the red light/green light reference on the sign and thought that was a cool touch. I thought it was a part of the sign that would change.
Even more cool knowing about the traffic light in the bar!

I'm really sorry the squirrels did it in. I hate squirrels. Declared war on them 3-1/2 years ago.

Back in December 2016, a squirrel totaled my 2006 Prius. Parked it at 2030 on Tuesday, went to start it around 1300 the next day and only about 1/3 of the dash lights came on and it wouldn't start. The master cable buundle going through the firewall was 2/3s chewed through. In excess of $7500 to repair, KBB value $6800 (180K+ miles, still getting 53+ mpg). So after my $500 deductible, I got a check for $6300 and the insurance got my car.

Did I mention I hate squirrels and have declared war?

Awesome sign (and gift) Ryan ::tu:: . Great idea for my business welcome sign, and cheap, me likey cheap ::nod:: .

Reminds me of the red lights that illuminated (barely) the old Cellar Clubs in Fort Worth and Dallas. If the red light was on, everything was as abnormal. ::cb:: If the red light was flashing it meant the cops were on the way. And the band would start playing the Mickey Mouse Club Theme.

Anyone recognize what kind of caterpillar this is? It was on a cardboard box on the porch when I found it. About 3 inches long and as big around as a pencil at its largest part. Note the two red bands.

It's a Lappet moth of some variety.

It looks very much like a American Lappet Moth Caterpillar, Phyllodesma americana, but the red stripes on pictures of P. americana larvae that I found on the inet APPEAR to be wider and brighter red than what yours shows, so it MAY be a Southern Lappet Moth, P. carpinifolia aka P. occidentis, of which there are no larval pictures available apparently. The apparent differences in width and brightness may be a result of the angle, light, age of the larva, etc or it may be a P. occidentis larva.

You might go to the Texas A&M Entomology insect identification page and submit your pic there. They might be able to confirm or deny my identifiation as an American Lappet Moth larvae.

From the morning walk...Mimosa Pudica (the Sensitive Plant) is in bloom. Note the difference in the green leaves from the first and second picture. If you touch the leaves, they rapidly close up to protect themselves. They will gradually reopen, a few minutes later.

Hey Doc, cool plant and pic. I can't help but notice that the bloom looks a lot like the coronavirus. ::paranoid::

Here's something you don't see everyday - a NON-Marching Band.

This was the Ft Hood (Texas) Non-Marching Band performing as a participant in the 6th Annual Taylor Jaycees July 4th Celebration Parade - July 1955.

That’s an interesting band. I really like their rides!
I’m going out on a limb a say those Jeeps were the earliest MB models. Wish I’d kept the one we had in the late 60s. :(

Used to see a lot of those Jeeps around Wurtsmith Air Force base back in the day haven't seen one around the county in quite a few years most of them were bought up for deer camp use back in the day by down staters.. I wouldn't have liked bouncing around in one all day the ones I've rode beat you up bad but they was all beaters....

Pretty cool!
They were over Philly last Tuesday, but I missed them.
Dad was in the Air Force 21+ years, then I did 20. I've seen both teams many, many times.
I worked on airplanes while I was in. I still think they're fun to watch as they fly over.
Still bummed I missed 'em last week! ::teary_eyes::
