Well the Ponder Post Rider delivered the Congress knife today. Now I have 3 more coming and I need to find the last 2.

In hand, the Deluxe didn't have the same impact on me as it did in the pictures so I'm just sticking with the bird in the hand & quitting with the Mini-Trapper. My opinion only. YMMV

I just received the latest Rough Ryder knife. They're calling it an Upswept Bow Trapper and now that it's in hand I can say it reminds me of a slimmer saddlehorn. Here are the typical specs everyone wants to know. It's 3 7/8" closed. The blade is centered and sharp. All transitions are smooth. It has a half stop and the backspring is flush when open and closed and just slightly proud at half stop. The pull is softer than their swayback, I'd say about a 5. The closing talk is a satisfactory 'snap.' I'm not a big fan of the matchstrike nail nick but it does help make the blade pinchable. Oh, the red G-10 underliner is nice. I think the lanyard tube is narrower than normal if that matters to you

You must have bought the last one because it's now out of stock at SMKW (+ none on eBay). A very intriguing pattern. Too bad I slept through the opportunity to get one. Price was certainly right.

A little 31/4 inch Rough Rider, with that spelling, not Rough Ryder. It is a cheap but really nice little Ram Horn, and extremely sharp.

Yes, sorry i did not explain myself very well. From some of the comments i have been reading over probably the last 12 months, there seems to be some people who liked the Rough Rider name over the Rough Ryder name. ::dang:: ::dang:: ::dang::

Hey, I've got one of those. Cute little bugger but mean as a Gar. It bit me twice before I put it away.

Dang, Jerry! I haven't had a Tetanus shot in probably 30 years, I guess growing up on a farm built up my immune system. How do you like that Ram's Horn bone? I have it on a Lady Leg and really like it. ::nod::

I've got the Ram's Horn pen as well - it's one of my favorite RRs.

I have the medium stockman, so I've got the baby trapper, baby copperhead, congress and trapper coming in the mail.
I still have to find the large stockman and mini-trapper which I'm sure won't be hard.
Thank you for the compliments Gentlemen ::tu::

I like it a LOT. It's a really neat little knife, even if it doesn't have any manners. "Never bite the hand that bought you."

I just got mine yesterday.
Your description accurately mirrors my opinion of this knife. I have some damage in the red G10 scale material but I can easily correct it.
The blade did not snap open to my satisfaction and was a bit loose when I got it. I bonded a tiny metal shim on the end of the spring and it’s all good. Nice blade and very sharp out of the box.
A pretty darn good knife for $12 and my first Rough Ryder. Probably not my last.

I’ve been pretty lucky with the handful of Rough Ryders I have. An occasional cosmetic scratch is about the worst I’ve encountered. If you look at my pic I think you can see that the red liners are not the same thickness. Very minor discrepancy.

$10 is pretty high for shipping a $17 dollar knife. ::td::
That knife store is about 10 miles from my house.
I would go there and get you one, but with my luck they would be sold out.
I called SMKW yesterday and they said they had ordered another shipment.
If you're on their email notifications you can get one from them. Tim. ::handshake::

Chicago Knife Works has the bow hunter RR2176 in stock for $11. I think mine arrived in 3 days for about $14 and change.
