Today we went to the town flea/farmers market and while it was nice, it didn't have anything for me. We visited a national park visitor center, had coffee and snacks in a railroad car, and went to the Soldotna History Museum. The lady that was our guide knew the history so well, because she lived it. She came here in 1948 as a young child with her parents who were "homesteaders." This was our "cultural day."

The buildings are the real cabins built by the first homesteaders before Alaska became the 49th state.
It has been nothing but blue skies today, so tonight we are going to take pictures of snow covered Mt. Redoubt volcano as the sun sets behind it. It last erupted March 22, 2009.

They are sitting on the Kenai River that is rough and moving rather fast and their little feet are going 90 mph to stay in place. The problem is my photography skills.RobesonsRme.com wrote:Why do those two ducks look like they are sitting on clouds in the sky?

A fully restored Buick i saw at a country fair.
An early Model Ford.
A beautifully restored Rod.An absolutely fantastic" Rat Rod". The work on this was just so meticulous and well done, and the sound of it starting and ticking over was just like a cat "purring", till the throttle was given full bore. Just "Magic". Hope the pics come out okay.

Scott, I am so impressed with the constructive activities you come up with for these kids. Nothing boring. Always something to engage and entertain them. They'll remember it for their entire lives. "Remember when........................?"

Great old cars Cudgee!
Scott, glad to see the missions have returned. I bet the boys are glad too. Looks like you had some adult participation on this one. Excellent!

Here is a photo of a typical " Aussie battler/bushie". Was talking to him at a tractor pull on Sunday, lovely old bloke. Doing it hard at the moment, but did not hesitate to bring his tractor in for the local event to raise money for the community. Was even bidding up to $350 for a truck load of fire wood to help raise money. People like this restore your faith in human nature.

This was lunch in a Russian mountain village, population 318. Nina served Russian borscht soup, sauerkraut, bread, tea w/cinnamon and a raspberry desert. I started looking for a Whataburger after we left!

They had just finished packing out the meat, their set for the winter.
If you go to my Facebook page there is a video of that eagle as he sat there and then flew off over the Kenai River to the other side.
