Thanks guys!
Collections like mine are what happens when the voices in your head get to arguing and the collector voice shouts down the common sense and budget voices. Every once in a while I have to gag that collector voice if I want to eat!

Charlie, your Case Canoe sub-collection is Legendary! Just curious, are there any you haven't been able to find? Looks like you have about every Canoe Case has ever put out.Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:03 pm
I don't collect many of "those" displays. The ones I have all contain commemorative canoe pattern knives. The one I posted is the only mint set I have but I also have three single knife commemorative canoes in factory display cases, a Ducks Unlimited, A CCC 35 year anniversary, and A John Wayne commemorative. All of my other display cases have hinged lids and can easily be opened. Below is a photo of my "knife corner" which shows the majority of my displays, there are a couple of others elsewhere in the house.

Re: Collections, Sub-Collections and Family Group Photos
When I officially started collecting rather than just accumulating knives I collected the canoe pattern only. I wouldn't call my collection "legendary" but I have canoes made by just about every American, German, and English company that offered the pattern. There are many Case canoes I don't have, Case made a lot of canoes down through the years, but the ones I don't have are mostly the ones that are hardest to find. I've always got my eye out for them though. After focusing on the canoe pattern for so long I've started picking up other patterns that interest me like cigar jacks and saddlehorns.knifeaddict1965 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:30 pmCharlie, your Case Canoe sub-collection is Legendary! Another sub collection of a pattern I've always been fond of. (Sorry, not the best photo)

Absolutely fantastic Charlie. What a marvelous looking man cave. I had a complete canoe set like yours with matching serial numbers from the very first collection I purchased. I sold those a long time ago. I did finally find a buyer that bought them all together. I was just about to break up the set. Seems like many people don’t know about those Indian tribe canoe sets. I believe those were made exclusively for SMKW.Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:03 pmI don't collect many of "those" displays. The ones I have all contain commemorative canoe pattern knives. Case is big on display cases. I’ve asked on the Case forum if they could offer the CCC knives and others at a lower price without the display case or the higher price with it. They have always said no. They make great displays but an option without would be nice.Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 4:04 am
Thanks SSS.
It's a mint set and sold as one piece in the display from the factory. There is no lid, you'd have to disassemble the display case from the back to move the glass. It's not that difficult but I won't open it unless I decide to break up the set...which isn't likely.

How about a sub-collection based on color? I took this shot for St. Paddy's Day a few years ago...

That is a very worthy sub-collection, Charlie. To "The wearing of the green" may now be added, "The carrying of the green."

When I started collecting slip joints, I eventually got a few canoe patterns, they are vintage Case, one’s a butterbean I guess and the other one the etched indian. then I also ended up getting a 4 blade Fight’n Rooster with MOP covers. I really like the canoe pattern.

Now that's how to display knives, organized, still clearly visible, and fully protected from dust.Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:03 pmI don't collect many of "those" displays. Charlie, that collection make me see red. Wow!!!Sasquach wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2024 2:09 pm Here is a family of knives that I spent some time accumulating. I finally got them all with the original clam shell boxes but the serial numbers don't match across all six knives. Searching for the same serial numbers would have made putting the set together virtually impossible.
