GEC knives are nigh on impossible to purchase, especially for those of us who are not that computer savy, do you have an opinion, really like to hear them. ::tu::

I'm not all that informed, but I believe these are selling out so quickly is that Rough Ryder has really stepped up on the quality of their knives.
Also you can't beat the price. The trapper I received today has about the best fit and finish of any knife in My collection. ::tu::

I think traditional knife manufacturers know that to maintain sales, they need to limit production of any particular model, material & color, and continuously produce new combinations. The market is relatively small, and the worst thing that can happen to them is to have unsold inventory. The cost of tooling, and the time it takes to change tooling is FAR lower today than it used to be, and that means they can produce lower quantities and still make a good profit on the production run. I would bet they have CAD engineers working continuously in front of their computers on new designs and the tooling to make those new designs, and I'll also bet they have a steady stream of new handle materials & colors being proposed.

They will have more cudgee, you can sign into smkw.com and bring up the knife "RR Upswept Bow Trapper" in their search engine and add your request to "Notify Me when back in stock" with your email address. I have found that they are very good at their customer request notifications.
A good example is "Rough Ryder Brown Stag Bone" There are 25 different knives within that category. Ten (10) of which are on backorder.

Thanks for that info, i did not know that. Unfortunately, they are also one of the many companies that will not ship over here. With that issue, conversion rate on the product as well as postage i am in a position where buying what i would like becomes very difficult and expensive. But thank you for letting me know that, it is very handy to have that piece of information. ::handshake::

Do you have a relative or friend connection is America that can assist you in obtaining a knife from Smokey Mountain without all the added crazy expenses?

That's what Grant (Shearer) did (does). If he came up against a seller that would not ship internationally, he would buy it, have them ship it to me and I would fill out the paperwork then forward it on to him. I would let him know how much the shipping was and he would reimburse me via PayPal. No muss, no fuss and no stress. Easy peasy, lemon squeezie. We haven't done it in quite a while .

I wasn't aware of the RR Premium Select Series until I found this one.
Polished buffalo horn handles, black pearl and abalone inlay, nickel
silver spacers and bolsters, custom backspring file work, and stainless
steel blades. Very nice EDC knife.

I believe there are seven (7) "RR PREMIUM SELECT" pocket knives in the series. Numbered from RR # 1689 through: # 1695.
(I have all seven listed and pictured below.)
However, as of today's post, SMKW only shows six (6). They do not show the #1695 Mini Trapper. The Mini Trapper #1695 is available on eBay though.
All the Premium Selects are on "Backorder" at SMKW.

It takes more than 200 individual hand operations to complete a knife of this caliber. Skilled craftsman painstakingly hand-craft each premium select knife from some of the finest materials in the world. The Rough Ryder Premium Select Pocket Knife Series features polished buffalo horn handles, black pearl and abalone inlay, nickel silver spacers and bolsters, custom backspring file work and stainless steel blades.

RR# 1691 Medium Stockman

Good info and pictures Dan.
I have the medium stockman, so I've got the baby trapper, baby copperhead, congress and trapper coming in the mail.
I still have to find the large stockman and mini-trapper which I'm sure won't be hard.
