I absolutely LOVE Ouray!!! I've made 4 trips, riding the "Alpine Loop", through the old mines. We always stay in Ouray, when we go. I want to spend more time there..in the upcoming summers. The weather there, is the perfect escape from Texas heat!
Some of the old ruins and my son...a few years back...

Doc B, you are visiting some very interesting places. And what a contrast. I would love to metal detect around both of those locations. Thanks for sharing.

Got in a little dove hunting late this afternoon. Not many dove but afterward while sitting around the truck we were treated to this unusual sunset.

Hi Ken,
Nice pic!
I saw on the Houston News this week that a volcano eruption in Russia was giving us Texans some beautiful sunsets.
Have to admit, I did wonder what was causing that unusual effect. But I was too lazy to hike across the creek to find out if I could see anything.

Ken, if you could go across your creek and see a volcano in Russia - that's mighty wide creek...

Hot and dry in Tn.hit a all time high for October today and will be hot again tomorrow. Cool down this weekend with a chance of rain by Monday. No pretty foliage for us this fall the trees on top of our hills are already brown from the drought of September, two tenths of a inch set another record.

bighomer, hope things improve for you, we are also in drought in a lot of the country, and had bad bushfires in early September. Hope this photo will be a sign of things to come for you when you get rain.

True! I wasn't aware of the Russian volcano phenomena at the time. So I would have gone across the creek and seen.........nothing. One time when I guess being lazy paid off.
It's been really dry here too bigH, but the temperatures have cooled off a little.
Beautiful rainbow cudgee! Don't see many that go continuously from horizon to horizon like that.

Posting a photo of the old "Newmarket Sale Yards" they closed in the early nineties, but were only about 3 miles from the heart of Melbourne, Australia's second biggest city. You tell people now and they think you are insane. Also want to see if photo comes up after the revamp, to try and help Bryan.

Fantastic photo! I used to love going to the stock pen (what we called it here), both the horse sales and cattle sales.

Yup - my Dad would occasionally take me to the "Famoso Western Stockman's Market" to watch the cattle auctions. This place was about 30 miles from where I grew-up. Also, it was near the Famoso Raceway, where the famous "March Meet" drags were held.

Here's a project I made last weekend. I bought a Dustopper at Home Depot to keep from clogging up the filter on my shop vac, but it proved unwieldy when trying to vacuum up the garage. The 5 gallon bucket kept falling over. There are numerous videos on Youtube on how to make a cart for these things, so I picked the one I liked best and copied his design. It's made out of PVC pipe and plywood, and I painted it black.
It made the whole contraption much easier to use, and it takes up a smaller footprint in my garage.
And don't ask me why the thumbnail pictures are sideways? When I click on them they straighten up.
