Honest Old Knife.

Ahhh… I get it, now. Yes. It is an HOK. Interesting story, how I tracked down the author of a book on “German Eye Brand” Knives, who is also an archeologist-expert on indigenous cultures, who authenticated this somewhat rare fixed blade. And where I found it…. Long story, but just for your info, whenever you see a big bin, of rusty old blades, sitting in a second hand shop—make sure you look through to the bottom!

It represents a GSP (German Shorthaired Pointer). AKA: A perpetual motion machine on 4 legs....

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
What a good looking dog. I know a little about the breed. Never had the pleasure of hunting over one. Our family had Weimaraners when I was a boy. More my father’s dogs, than mine. We used to take that dog to a local football field, and run it goal line to goal line, to burn off unused “field energy.”
I imagine that a GSP has similar energy levels.
My last dog was a “Fiest Dog” with JR terrier and beagle roots. A wonderful all-round dog that treed squirrels, flushed birds, stood off Coyotes, and was one of my smartest and closest friends.
Haven’t found a proper replacement yet. Though I am slowly looking.

I would think she's still babbling away at you, Tom, what a cool old knife! What would you call that blade, "modified to huge Wharncliffe"? It looks almost too big for a Boy Scout to handle,

Very nice indeed!

"Cars, women, and dogs"! A story of tragedy

Here is a hand forged butcher knife/cleaver I got from the maker, right out of his shop in Katmandu, Nepal a few years ago.

Here is a hand forged butcher knife/cleaver I got from the maker, right out of his shop in Katmandu, Nepal a few years ago.I will try and dig out some pictures of him at work, he sat on the floor of his shop and used a piece of railroad track as an anvil.

Being able to say you've actually been to Katmandu is a memory to treasure all on it's own!

I've always thought the ideal anvil would be a chunk of railroad track,

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Marco, you would be amazed at the quality of blades the blacksmiths there in Nepal, were turning out using very simple tools and skills passed on for hundreds of years...

Here is a Filipino haras or lampas scythe before and after cleaning. You can see how the blade was covered in rust.

Very cool, Dog, you possess some of the oddest knives I've seen, and you have some wonderful memories of all the places they came from, I applaud you, my friend!
Great job cleaning her up too!

Hello all was wondering if someone could give me some information on this knife I picked up this weekend it’s a WW Cronk with an upswept point and maybe reddish brown micarta? Handle. I know it’s been sharpened and scuffed was wondering if you think it’s legit? How rare is it? Estimate of value being in it’s condition?

I also picked up these two Chris Peterson knives was wondering what your thoughts are on these two as far as rarity and maybe what the model is?

Re: Show off your fixed blades!
Had to do a google search for the maker. Sure looks like a correct knife. I do like the design. No experience as to value. Not knowing the maker if I saw it in the wild would have picked it up if the price was right. Can’t tell you what that amount would be. Depends on the knife, if I like it and have $ burning a hole in my pocket. Some iner devil says buy it under those circumstances.Chief-wahoo wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2024 2:30 pm Hello all was wondering if someone could give me some information on this knife I picked up this weekend it’s a WW Cronk with an upswept point and maybe reddish brown micarta? You can always get more money, good old knives are hard to find.

I picked this one up today. Can’t find much doing an Internet search. Was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this maker?
