Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
QT, Somehow I inexplicably missed your post of Jan. 26. I am aghast, stricken, heartbroken, as I look at your amazing Bulldog. I am indeed happy for you that you obtained such a wonderful piece. But, alas, suffer deep regrets because it is not mine. I have never seen such richly grained ivory. Just wonderful. Would you ever consider selling it? You could name your price establishing a superb profit for yourself. Really.
[Think of the many other mini-trappers you could acquire with the proceeds.

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
Funny thing, Garry (well, perhaps you won't find it so funny) is that the same seller sold another ivory BD Mini T the very next week...and it sold for even less than what I paid for the one I got. I even put in a couple of bids just because I couldn't believe nobody else was bidding on it. But, alas, I had already just purchased one, and I didn't want to be greedy and hog them all. Now I wish I had though, because if I had purchased both of them, I would gladly have given one to you.

Stay tuned mini trapper aficionados: ~Q~ & Quick Steel may be concocting a nefarious mini trapper scheme
In the meantime...here's my Mini TrapPER DIEM for today, a single blade, (Delrin) Winterbottom Queen #51
I think this pretty much speaks for itself!

funny enough I was about to post asking if anyone made a single clip blade mini trapper
will have to keep an eye out for one

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
If you have a keen eye for Queen made knives, today's Mini TrapPER DIEM might look somewhat familiar. Apparently, a dealer purchased some NOS that was gathering dust on the shelves at Blue Grass Cutlery and found a box of these John Primble Authorized Reproduction Mini Trappers. A cursory comparison reveals that this knife is basically the exact same Mini Trapper that Queen used in its Master Cutler series: same size, same frame, same blades & blade configuration, same high quality construction. The only differences seem to be in the window dressings, i.e., different bone scales, the placement of the nail nick on the spay blade, a fleur-de-lis style shield and the John Primble logo blade etch.
I'll admit I was a little skeptical and hesitant to get this one at first because the only other John Primble knife I own is of significantly lower quality and is obviously a Pacific Rim product (I think I paid less than $20 for it). This one cost three times as much, but in a side-by-side comparison, it's clearly well worth it and a far superior knife. When it arrived, it had some kind of residue on the blades, bolsters and shield--probably dried oil from sitting around for so long--but aside from that, it's an excellent knife in every respect.
Here's a Queen Master Cutler Mini Trapper for comparison:
And here's my Pacific Rim made John Primble Mini Trapper (obviously it's hard to tell the differences in quality of construction from a photo, but, I assure you, in hand the differences are more than obvious):

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
I suppose today's Mini TrapPER DIEM could be filed under the category of "Good Things Come to Those Who Wait." I've never made any secret of the fact that I am not a fan of Delrin--a fact I restated when I posted a Delrin Queen #9155 as my Mini TrapPER DIEM on Feb 4 (page 40)--so you can only imagine my gleeful exuberance when, lo and behold, what to my wondering eyes should appear but another Queen #9155...but this one has a genuine bone handle!
Furthermore, in reference to a Delrin Winchester Mini TrapPER DIEM I posted on Sept 19 (page 11), jerryd stated:
Please consider the evidence below and draw your own conclusions. They're all essentially the same knife but with different window dressing (the bone handled knife also has a narrower clip blade). Although, interestingly, the bone handled Queen has a serious gator snap, the Delrin Queen not quite as hard, and the Delrin Winchester has the weakest snap of them all. Most curious, indeed.
They may have all been made by the same company, but I feel the bone handled Queen is far and away the better knife in every respect.
Furthermore, in reference to a Delrin Winchester Mini TrapPER DIEM I posted on Sept 19 (page 11), jerryd stated:
I never doubted jerryd's claim that Queen was the manufacturer and now I have compelling, albeit circumstantial, supporting evidence to back it up.jerryd6818 wrote:Winchester, the king of the long guns. Yours was most likely made by Queen in the later '80s - mid '90s.

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
Speaking of snap..today's Mini TrapPER DIEM has probably the hardest snap of any knife I have ever owned. I'm guessing that Queen made this stag #9155 with a super hard snap intentionally; why else would they etch the image of a bear trap on the clip master blade?

Re: The Mini TrapPER DIEM -- Your Daily Mini Trapper
It's been eight months since this tread was active. Let's see if we can resuscitate the old girl with some fresh Mini-T's.
How about we throw the charger on the battery and see if we can get her to turn over with this one.

This fits right in my program, an hour late and a dollar short! Here is a Queen 1992 mini that I've had for a while, etch is worn off the master blade but maybe a model 9255? Great little trapper IMO.

A good surgeon could correct that factory error with a little cosmetic surgery, jerryd.

It took me awhile, but I've finally come to appreciate it for its uniqueness.

Hmmm...looks like we got a green theme going on here.
You should know by now that even the mere suggestion of a pattern is like catnip to OCD Monkey. And, since I missed the traditional posting of green knives on St. Patrick's Day last month, perhaps this will make up for it.
