All About Vegetation, House Plants, Gardens, Trees ect.

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I doubt you have the conditions to grow tomatoes. If there are farmers in the citiy, you can give them to someone. But you can sow the spices in pots.

I was out for a dog walk and found some Daffodils blooming near an old homesite. A little of an old stone foundation was barely visible there in the woods. The structures and their inhabitants long gone, but the flowers live on. There is a poem there somewhere, TPK ::nod::

Also found several Spring Beauties blooming.

Daffodils here are almost finished blooming now. Their bloom season was stunted by the deep freeze we experienced last month which hit just as many were starting to bloom or had buds. Most were “bit” by the sub-zero temperatures.

Dug some white bearded Iris that are growing at an old long abandoned homesite. The house has been gone for years but the perennial flowers still bloom annually. The Iris had spread into the ditch alongside the road. I’ve been meaning relocate some to our place for years, finally did it.

"Daffodils"

The homesteads are all gone,
Gone all the people,
Gone are the walls,
Gone is the steeple,

Left behind are the rocks,
That laid the foundation,
Gone those who once,
Built a great nation,

Left behind are the daffodils,
God's resurrecting creation,
Gone are the bells,
Left only, a vibration...

Thanks Ike! Appreciate the kind words. ::handshake::

I found one more poem for your picture. ::tu::

"Daffodils"

Mossy rocks lay in a row,
Telling tails of years ago,
Daffodils are that last,
A silent snapshot,
From the past.

Took this picture this afternoon, Mexican Plum and Redbud growing near the fence row behind our house. Both trees are native to this area. The redbud came up “volunteer” where it’s growing now (likely planted by a bird sitting on the overhead electric wires). I dug the plum from along the creek and transplanted it about 15 years ago to where it is now.

Those tree buds falling on our deck, makes you sneeze.
Red Maple Buds - Acer rubrum

A tree and a flower are different. The word tree refers to the complete plant whereas a flower is only an organ of a plant. Some trees produce flowers (angiosperms, i.e., maple) and some do not (gymnosperms, i.e., pine). Flowers are usually grouped together on a stem and are adapted for sexual reproduction. The flower is not an entire plant but an organ formed by some plants for reproductive purposes.

LOL...nah, no GPS. Byt they're not always straight, either :?

Funny you joke about though...we did use GPS for spray rigs and fertilizer spreaders when I worked on a turf farm. Not needed so much for granulars, but it sure made the liquids easy if the sun wasn't right to see your tire tracks.
