These two won't compete with Basser's pics, those are beautiful. I found out 2 days ago we have a vixen and her kits, 8 of them, living under the shed. That should do away with the mouse problem for a while. And rabbits, chipmunks, voles.

It is a riot to watch the kits play with each other. One pic is of the vixen. Nice looking girl, she is. The other is two of the kits looking right at me when I took the picture. You will have to expand them to see the kits. The tan shed is my neighbors and you can see the kits with it in the background.

And I just got a knife today in the mail but this is more fun.

Beautiful photos, Basser. The Eagle in particular is just amazing. The cataract photo is not what I think of when I think of Illinois.

Well this photo is not great but first Black Bear spotted on our property ever... ... Garbage was dragged up hill during the night but a few years ago it was the raccoons... but this time the real culprit came back 5:30 pm yesterday afternoon.... Beautiful animal to watch - through the window ..

The bear population in CT has been growing steadily for many years and prior to a few years ago the town only had 3 sightings and this year 23 so far.. anyway garbage cans will be bleached and kept in the garage or shed for awhile .. basically we have now seen all the major wildlife including birds and raptors of CT - if a moose wonders through we would have “bingo” ... (Last year a moose with calf was seen 1 mile away...)..

The name of the town I grew up in is two different Indian words combined, both meaning "Bear Country". We have more than our share of them, along with deer, an occasional moose, cougars, lynx, bobcats, timber wolves, brush wolves, fox (both red and silver) and way too many raccoons. We live between several large bog areas that have a ton of wildlife and many parts of them aren't easily accessible and the wildlife love it that way. Our winters are long but I love it up here. ____Dave

Sounds great Dave - I like living in the forest surrounded by wildlife as well... but I can say I could never take your winters, our winters are bad enough... Prior to living here we lived along the beach and ocean which was another whole host of marine life which was very cool and very different... so the change the last 10 years has been another life experience...

dj, What is a brush wolf?

Same thing as a coyote but for some reason they don't often call them coyote's around here. Lee, I've never seen an ocean. Other than when I was in the Air Force, I haven't traveled much other than to the states bordering Minnesota. I spent the Viet Nam years in South Dakota after tech school in Illinois. In the Air Force I traveled from SD to Utah a few times and loved the Big Horn mountains which gets more snow than Minnesota so it appears I've found my spot to live, but this past winter sure tested my love of this place._____Dave
