Now that’s cool ::tu:: ..

Just as an aside - many know I’m heavily involved in fly fishing and tying... one of my favorites are the salmon flies tied from the 1800s originating in England and Ireland.. anyway the point is “pigs wool” ,as it is called, was a body material for hooks and traditionally it was made from shaved mangalitsa pigs... in fact I have a friend in Iowa who either raises the mangalitsas or has a friend who does.. he dyes the pigs wool using natural dyes as was done from a fly tying book from the 1850s... its a very coarse material to use but one of my favorites...

Thank you, great info. My friend uses some of the hair also for flies, fly fishing is big around here.

I don't enjoy fly fishing because it takes so dadgummed many to make a mess and they are such a bugger to clean.

I caught a bat one evening while fly fishing. He snagged the fly on the backcast.

Strangest live thing I've ever caught was a fresh water clam.
Apparently I dragged my worm over it while it was opened, then it clamped down in it.

Sounds like one of those “now what am I gonna do with it?” situations! ::facepalm::

Exactly what I did. I just cut him off with as little line as possible left.

Aw, one of my best buddies at the zoo was a fruit bat, Jackie.
My son sometimes gets clams while fishing. It’s not that rare. We get the odd crayfish too.
My ex caught a seagull once! It went after the worm on the swing. I think he just got the beak.

I'm sure you'll gets lots of other opinions but here's what I would do.

Scrub it with a Brillo Pad and lots of elbow grease.
Rinse and wipe away all the soap residue, then dry it well.
Coat with Ren-Wax.

But that's just me.

A lot depends on what "your mind's eye" sees as the finished project.

If it was made in 1904 or there abouts perhaps it was intended as a display of industrial manufacture. Then again it might be considered a modernist art piece MM being the creator. You might pay a visit to Antiques Roadshow.

Woodmen of the World, which was basically a self covering insurance club, used a stump as a logo with "W.O.W." included.

The Latin phrase, "Dum Tacet Clamat", means "Though Silent, He Speaks".

We have a smart aleck in Surrey! This is near the Gateway Skytrain Station. The trees are “budding”!
I actually had to look twice. The colour caught my eye and something in the back of my mind went, “Hey, wait a minute...!’’

Gotta give him credit for inventiveness!

The item in the tree were earplugs or ‘earbuds’. We have a lot of construction going on all the time around here. Some worker has been recycling his plugs!

Can the tree hear you coming now? Is it easier to slip up on? Maybe it is calmer not hearing all the noise. ::shrug::
