I saw on TV the ship wreck that was found. That is amazing. Can't wait to see what they find in it.

Here are pictures I took yesterday on our self guided Covered Bridge Tour. We visited four different old covered bridges here in Kentucky. There are a total of 12 remaining here. We have now visited exactly half of them and hope to visit the others soon.

That’s cool Phil ... we have 20 in CT - one I go through every time I leave or come home - except on this one the whole bridge is wood except they needed to modernize the road under it ... there’s another 20 minutes away but it crosses a river and is just for walking as a road was never put in - it was originally just for horse and buggies and has a dirt path on both sides... under it is a well known fishing spot as well as up river ... thanks for sharing those photos!!!

Eustace, what did they do with the bomb? Did they blow it in place?

Phil, I love covered bridges. We have several in Alabama still. The Horton Mill Covered Bridge is not very far away, up in Blount County, just the other side of Oneonta. It is quite high.

I love that arched timber support in that one you showed. I wonder how difficult that was to construct.

Phil,I know of one on the AA between Maysville and Highland Heights Ky.Passed it several times when my oldest was going to NKU.
I know of 2 here locally.1 in my county,that they spent $400000 on a couple years ago,and another in an adjoining county.

Beautiful bridge photos John. They all look to be very well maintained. Are those in your vicinity ?

I don't believe I've ever seen anyone say why 'covered bridges' were built, 'covered'.

The only one closed to traffic is the first one.. And I know where there are 4 other ones that we have not taken pics/visited/driven thru yet.. John

Yes, yesterday our military blew it up on a polygon.

"Polygon"? I think something might have gotten lost in translation. Can you describe what you mean by a polygon?

In geometry, a polygon is any closed, multi-sided object. Triangles, rectangles, hexagons, etc are all polygons.
