I haven't hit the fleas in a while so my am coffee was at a flea and I came home with a steal on sum OldTimers 12ot,34ot,8ot and one I didn't have 194ot all for undar twenty dollars

and you are right Jerry when I was a kid and untill the intro of the Buck 110's I know Schrades and especially the OldTimers were the most popular knife in the workingmans comunities around Maine, close second was Ulsters then Camillus

I was amazed to see these "art-deco-mid-cenruty-The-Jetsons" looking kitchen knives carried an IMERIAL Stain Resistant USA stamp.

On the blade one is etched:
Le Petit
other is etched:
Le Charcutier

Acrually the holes are for hanging.
They hand one a plastic headboard with pegs. Each of the 5 knives in the set hand from the pegs. Kinda cool actually. Was produced in 1973.

Picked me up a Case 6275sp eight dot for ten bucks she's a little pitted on the blades and back of the spring but for the price a great user the scales are bone and excellent with great walk and talk.

Thanks. I had to have it as soon as I seen it. I honestly didn't know what it was. I just knew that I didn't have one yet. Also, it's the only F.Herder knife I own.

Found these two at a small gunshow nearby yesterday. Two patterns I've wanting to add to the pile. The EO Copperhead with the Wharncliffe master I was really pleased to get, haven't seen one like it before. The '31 I just wanted. Thanks for looking.

Here ya go Steve. I knew it was for marking trees and lumber but never gave any more thought to it than that.

"Race knife also known as a timber scribe (scorer, tree marker) is a knife with a U-shaped end sometimes called a scoop knife for cutting marks in wood by lumbermen, carpenters, coopers, surveyors, and others. The reasons for making marks varies and includes keeping count (tally marks), identifying parts (carpenter's marks), numbering, and tracing patterns around a template as a part of marking out. The gouges left by the timber scribe are more durable than pencil or chalk marks"
