Did this little project on Sat. The backdrop is an. . ., an old wooden slab that was used to insert & extract loaves of bread in & out of a masonry oven. I used it as a decoration to hang up gardening tools and a few other tools in my car port. Also added a near mint Imperial Ireland gardening pocket knife. I'm sure it will come in handy in the car port.

Add: There is an old hammer at the top & an old wooden level at the bottom that I enjoy working with.
And the grill tongs are now my cacti tongs.

Great job,Tom, it looks really nice! You aroused my curiosity and I found the name of that wooden tool.

Roughly 35 years ago, my wife and I transplanted this Tiger Lily from her grandparent's house. It has been at the corner of our patio since, providing a few fleeting days of blooms each year.

I was just talking to my Mom about Purslane a couple of weeks ago. I had never heard of it before. Is it winter Hardy?

I would say it grows in nearly all climates, most consider it a weed.

I noticed today that the clover in my Cactus/Succulent planter has a couple cute little yellow flower blossoms.

I have also noticed that both the blossoms as well as the leaves fold together in the evening and reopen in the morning.

Good. I like weeds. They are easy to grow.

Add: From what I could find out, they do die in the winter but they throw out seeds in the fall time and should return in in the spring time due to the seeds.

Ike you've taught me something, I grew up eating Polk, wild watercress,wild berries, drinking sassafras tea but I never ate hog weed. It sure looks to be nutritious.

Here’s our backyard in its 3 rd growing season . The big field we mow every 4 th of July . Then the wildflowers comeback strong and cover the area . Roses really like the re bar and chicken wire for climbing.

The backyard looks great, it doesn't seem like 3 years ago that you posted pics as you were working on it. I notice that your shed was not big enough to store all of your knives and you had to buy an enclosed trailer for your many Camillus!! That is probably the real reason you are getting the stink eye from the lovely Heidi!

The years seem to go by so quickly.
If not careful the enclosed trailer could become my home away from home, so can’t fill it full of Camillus knives just yet ! She does tolerate my little endeavors well ,very fortunate that way

Finished up this seasons garlic harvest. This is the last of it, about 650 garlics. Ready to deliver to the buyers. Bought these 5 schatts with last years harvest so will pick up about 5 more at the upcoming show in pleasantville Pa. in 3 weeks.

Now that's an interesting idea, trading garlic for pocketknives! The enjoyment of gardening/farming combined with some fine knives for the effort!
Have you shown those particular knives before? Love to see them in a close up.

Ike, do you eat that weed, I looked it up a few years ago because it was growing prolifically around my old house. I can't remember what I found out. Like Homer, the Asian lillies are beautiful while they last.
What I don't understand is how you keep hostas , where are the deer! They come upon our doorstep and eat them! Do you spray?

Rob, I planted a lot of garlic last fall in a not so ideal location . It's over the hill in an area I grubbed out , and the soil wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The neighbor's lawn care guy mowed the area down there after I hurt my knee and mowed the garlic patch too. I haven't checked if it produced any bulbs, I know it's not much.

That crepe myrtle is is getting out of hand, need to prune it back,, the little one next to it was the same size when I cut them back a few years ago and it got stunted and the other is going like gang busters.
The red hibiscus 's blooms are really heavy, even though they are tied to the bird house post they are really drooping.

Beautiful gardens! BH, that big Crepe Myrtle is stunning! I sure would think twice before I pruned it. If you do it will be years before it looks that good again.

Here in Texas the purple skullcaps (supposedly so called because the flowers look like little helmets) are blooming. We had about an inch of rain last week so I guess that’s what spurred on the blooms. There’s a pink version also but it blooms all summer, even without rain. The butterflies and hummingbirds love them both.
