It's really reminding me of the Cold Steel Tai*Pan daggers with it's round hilt and dagger blade, yep, very nice!

Thanks Marco.

It's a Case Rio Grande camp knife.
Thank you, Charlie, I must be upping my brand knowledge in spite of myself, cuz I knew Case was involved in it's construction somewhere.

Very recently, this fixed blade knife arrived among a group or lot of pocket knives that I purchased. This particular fixed blade knife was NOT the target of my purchase. However, it did turn out to be a keeper. It will be added to my general, fixed blade knife collection. It is a Normark, one blade, one stamp, 9" overall length, fixed blade knife. The knife stamp says "© N CORP 1967" One handle side says, "Normark" with a logo or symbol. The knife came with a leather sheath and belt hanger. The sheath measures 12" overall length, including the hanger. The sheath is marked "NORMARK" with a logo or symbol. The knife is in VERY GOOD condition. The sheath is in GOOD condition. I took some pictures and here they are.
Caption(s), if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

Skip, you are having great luck with your acquisitions. The Nor Mark knife looks great and I suspect it will sharpen up as much as you want it to. It looks like a very sleek modern rendition of a classic Nordic pattern.

Unfortunately, the last group of knives that I bought only contained two fixed
blade knives. The Normark and the scuba diving knife I previously posted.
But I know there will be more in 2024.

Charlie, I have to admit that your Queen fixed blade makes me feel a little melancholy. Losing Queen was a terrible blow to the knife community. So many companies are now focused on "tactical" patterns. While they can be stylish they generally don't offer anything to match the beauty of your wooden handle.

I know the feeling QS. With the loss of Queen, Schrade, and Camillus the U.S. cutler community has been decimated. Then there was the tragedy of Canal Street...equivalent to a kick in the teeth while you're down. Bear & Son could become a cutler of that caliber if they would take their quality control more seriously but unfortunately they let too many sub-standard knives pass into the market making them a hit or miss proposition. GEC makes super fine traditional pocket knives but who can afford them and their sales practices make it almost impossible to buy one even if you have the resources. Case is still there but they too are wandering farther and farther away from what made them great in my opinion. It's truly a sad state of affairs. :( There is a cutler named RoseCraft Blades that has just started manufacturing their knives in Tennessee. I have not had one in my hands yet but I have heard nothing but good reports on their products so far. Also there is Battle Axe out of Ohio trying to claim a place in the market. I wish them both luck and success.

Charlie!

There has been some discussion along with pictures of Rosecraft brand knives on this forum.
If you go to the "Quick Links" 3-bar menu on the top-left of every page, and scroll down to "Search" and click-on that, a new page pops-up.
From there enter "Rosecraft knives" in the box and hit enter. Any and all pages with the word "Rosecraft" will come up for reading.
This works with just about all keywords and saves a whack of time!

If I'm understanding the quoted information correctly, Rosecraft knife parts come from China and are then assembled in Tennessee and then offered for sale.

I bought their "Zembisi" model when the first became available, and for what it is it's a solid well made little knife, and similar comments are made by other guys who've bought one. It will pretty much depend on how much of an anti-Chinese knives advocate one is in determining whether you buy any or not.

Thanks for the info Marco. I hadn't heard that Rosecraft was importing their parts from China. I was under the impression that they were trying to move their whole operation the the US. As I've stated before, since the quality of Chinese knives has become so good compared to the trash they used to export, the only reason to dislike them is political. I'm not so much anti China as I am pro US. I like the fact that they are building them here but it would be even better if the manufacturing process was totally in the US. Political preferences aside, a well made knife is a well made knife. I'd just rather have a wider choice of well made knives made in the USA. ::nod::

I hear ya, Charlie, and your reasoning is completely valid. I may have read it wrong regarding my statement they're importing Chinese parts for US assembly, I'll have to go back and check.
I hadn't heard it put quite this way either, "I'm not so much anti-Chinese as I am pro-US", and it's a great way to convey your attitude on the issue without ruffling any feathers.

I did not realize that I had bought so many Fixed-blade knives over the last few years.
You guys are a bad influence on me!

Anyway, here they are: I will list them starting at the top left, going clockwise:
IMG_0361.jpeg
1) Western L66, rehandled in bone.
2) Western 639. Bought it just because I LOVE that blade profile. I made this sheath.
3) Schrade H-15. Has gaps between the leather discs, but they don't wiggle. I made the oversized sheath (fits left OR right hand!)
4) Romo Japan. A Christmas gift from my daughter, who knows I prefer a used knife in need of TLC!
5) Sharp brand. I made the sheath and a new pommel.
6) "Japan". Both sheath and knife are tourist quality.
7) Klenk Tools #DA71000, Duct knife. It is a little bit scary in person.
8 ) iPak tanto-inspired, of D2 steel. Bought it as a Second quality, but it is a solid little knife. It has a VERY thick blade.
9) Cattaraugus (longer). Original sheath. It is more cheaply made, but I still love the hard plastic handle.
10) Cattaraugus (shorter). I replaced the leather handle and made the sheath. It was in a Mora sheath when I bought it. It is too small for my big hands, but I have an addiction to Catts.
11) Gebrüder Lützenkirchen, from Solingen. My only German fixed blade to date. Has a Boy Scout etched on the blade.
12) Western Official Boy Scout, in a well-worn original sheath. The logo is just barely visible on that sheath.

I know that there is at least one more Western in my Project Pile, so once it is finished I will have a total of Lucky 13 fixed blades.
Jesus is life.
Everything else is just a hobby.

That's one fine 12-pack of fixers, Rev, all beautiful bowies!
I have a knife from Grand Way that is identical in appearance to your #12/bottom-far-right Western OBS, except it folds closed.
I like how you've displayed them too!

The way you put that statement is also excellent, Kerry. ::tu::
Either way, it softens the situation to where the parties are centered on the issue rather than the people, which IMO is what the conversation should be about. I'm certain all those affected by that issue are just trying to get by like the rest of us, and likely don't agree with their government's policies either, again IMO.
Thanks for your feedback, buddy! ::handshake::

Not sure where this one was made ( China I suspect). Reasonably well made with good balance and a very comfortable handle. However I'm not a fan of the hard plastic MOLLE compatible sheaths many knives like this one are paired with. I'm not in the military anymore so I have no use for MOLLE compatibility and much prefer a leather or canvas sheath.

I am a little late posting to this thread, but want to give some input about Rosecraft Blades. I sell them in my store here in Mt City and on eBay. They are selling well. After handling many, many of their knives, I find them to be very consistent in high quality construction, with smooth transitions, excellent snap open/shut, and have no wobble. The liners and springs are tight with no gapping. Fit and finish are excellent. From a dealer perspective, you couldn't get better customer service. Andy and crew are great! I believe you would be impressed if you got any of their knives. Not trying to sell here, only contribute.

I have several CRKT knives and all of them are well made. One of them is an assisted opening "Ignitor" model that I carry often.

Thanks Sasquatch! From talking with Andy and and internet info, they are completely made in China per their specs etc. Andy says they inspect every single knife before selling. They do have future plans to do them all in the USA, but the date is undetermined.
