A few days back my sister got a couple of wasp stings. Immediately made a little paste of water and baking soda which immediately stops the pain. Have used this myself and it is probably a widely known remedy.

I read that a dab of tooth paste works to. I tried and it did work. Also getting a bumble bee up your pants leg while riding with a motor cycle group was no fun. Lady said she though I was gonna drop my pants. I said I might have but it was a light weight jump suit.

I've recently moved to Colorado to be with my folks as they are getting older. Its definitely harvest time. Picked the corn yesterday and canned it, been picking raspberries for preserves, and its getting close to picking the tomatoes to make sauce. Ordered water out of the ditch this morning to irrigate the pasture.

We don't have any irrigation systems here because they would seldom be needed. Can you tell me a little about how that works ?

That is a great looking garden. I don't think I've ever seen corn planted that close together. Would love to understand more about the irrigation ditch.

Those TaylorMade irons don't look like they have been collecting rust for 20 years! I'm guessing you didn't have them sitting in your garage like mine have - my clubs are wrecks. I always liked the Burner oversize irons, those were the clubs I wanted before I stopped playing.

Very healthy looking garden, Keith, and interesting irrigation. It all looks like a lot of hard work.
I commend you for being with your parents. They are fortunate, I am sure, for many reasons.

There is a main ditch that comes out of the south Platte river which come from the snow melt in the mountains. Many farmers pull water from the ditch and are on a rotation. My dad's deal is small so we can call for it any time. All we do is call the Ditch rider and tell him we need to pull water on the ditch. Our gate is #47.

You are right about that TwoFlowers ** __ I just bought these ( used set ) off e-bay - a really nice set, that had been taken care of* -- my "old set of Hogans" ,as well as my wedges & putter had ""dry rotted grips"" and it was going to cost me more to re-grip, than I paid for the Taylormade __ I had always wanted a set of the Burner Bubble Clubs,when they came out early 90's - but would not pay the ""we just came out with the best thing price $$"" !!!!! __ Hit em' at the range and they made me feel like I can play again _______________ This golf stuff has changed so much,since I last played, and it seems to cater to us ""Ol' Folks"" -- drivers as big as frying pans,soft balls ,hybrid clubs, spikeless golf shoes, and we get to hit from the ""short tee box"" _____________ just found another bargain tonight, bought this set of the hybrids and have never hit one***

PS -- since this is a knife site,I will ask what is the knife of choice,to carry on the golf course ???? maybe the Case below ???

Monk I've got a set of those Burner Bubble irons and woods sitting down in the basement right now. I've had them since I bought them new. I recently checked prices on a set for sale on ebay and quickly realized golf clubs are a terrible long term investment, especially if you don't play any more than I have. I hope you enjoy yours and get a lot of playing time in.

A guy at that gun show this weekend had a display case that had every .22 revolver in it that North American Arms ever made. He said it was valued at $2500. I would have given him $2500 for it if I'd had it. Sure wish I'd remembered to take a picture. It sure was something to ooh and aah over.

They can be a nice little summer packer.

Monk that Case shor is pretty to stick in the dirt, but go for it, I use a sak I'm gonna try to get back to playing this week if possible my clubs have been gathering dust for almost a year.

There is a very good Tuscan potato soup with Kale.
They serve it at Olive Garden and I have made it at home. Delicious.

I love living in the country, but...

I spotted this 2-1/2 foot Copperhead crawling under the clubhouse porch. First night I lost sight of him, second night he got away, BUT I realized he had a pattern he was following. Third night...well let's just say there won't be a 4th night. Poor thing lost his head in all the excitement.
I don't hunt 'em for sport, but if they think they're gonna take up residence in the yard, I think NOT!

WB, that looks like it was a healthy specimen! We've got lots of copperheads here on the ranch, especially in the creek bottoms. A few years ago one of my neighbor's even said I could justify an ag exemption on the copperhead crop alone! Beautiful snake, if there is such a thing.

Used to see several in the yard around the house and barns every year (those usually lost their heads too). Got some Guineas about three years ago - haven't seen a copperhead (or any other snakes) around the place since, but still have plenty of them along the creeks.
