I think I have shown this knife on here before but not since I found some faint etching on the blade. I was looking online at bowie knives and seen a wragg with the blade shaped like mine with some etching. It was a bowie with fancy metal handles I forget what etching it had . This one I have has San Antonio ranger. The handle has been replaced but I love it.

I was asked to post this knife on this thread. I haven't posted it here before because, while I have a few bowies I don't consider myself a "bowie collector". I guess if you have more than one in bowie in your collection you qualify as a bowie collector.

So here are the other few bowies I have. Can I call this a collection? Chinese Uncle Henry, Chinese Rough Rider, German Edge Mark, USA Bear MGC, Spanish Muela, and country of origin ? CRKT. Unless the USMC fighting knife and the Buck 119 are considered bowies that's all I have.

I call it a collection, and a nice one, as well. I especially like the CRKT, as I am a Ruger fan.

I'm also a fan of Ruger.
It's called the Ruger Muzzle Break Bowie. It's a well balanced knife at 12" OAL. The sheath is the only drawback. I strongly dislike hard plastic and kydex sheaths and much prefer leather, canvas, or ballistic nylon.

Yes; I like the traditional sheaths better. When I carry a fixed blade it is usually in a pack, not on a belt. Sometimes just a fanny pack. Occasionally on a belt but with a dangler. And it would not be a big knife.

The majority of the time I'm hunting when I carry a large fixed blade on my belt and when I'm hunting I hate things that make noise as I move through the brush. Kydex and hard plastic make click-clacking noises when bumping/scraping against branches and brush while leather and canvas are much quieter. Add that to the fact that I find leather much more aesthetically pleasing.

It's silly, but I can't resist opining on which ones I'd call a Bowie. The Ruger CRKT looks too modern. Rubber handles and plastic sheaths don't go with coon skin hats and buck sin britches. The Rough Ryder Sasquach also looks too modern. Both of their hand guards are small for a Bowie. While similar Edge Marks are etced original Bowie they look like great hunting or camping knives to me. Jim B. would be proud if he saw you carrying one of the other three.

Well, not being a Bowie aficionado I still get what you're saying. I was into Buckskinning years ago and I would not have shown up at Rendezvous with the Uncle Henry or CRKT and the Rough Rider is really just a gag gift inspired by my nickname (Sasquach), it's labeled the Bigfoot Bowie. The Edge Mark was my Grandfather's. I paired a large Hudson Bay camp knife (which my eldest son now owns) with my coonskin cap and buckskin britches. I also have a replica 1849 Rifleman's Knife made by Cold Steel and a Case Rio Grande Camp Knife that would fit the bill at Rendezvous.
