I know I speak for many of the other members when I say I wish I could be there for the memorial service. Unfortunately too much distance separates most of us, but we do enjoy a close-knit community here on line. Bill was an important part of that community. He is already missed and will definitely be missed in the days to come.

Your family was blessed to have Bill as your father & grandfather. We were certainly privileged to have him as a friend.

I was shocked to hear this to say the least. I just finished a queen trapper for Bill only a couple weeks ago and he seemed fine and in high spirits. He will surely be missed and I for one will miss not seeing the wolfe around. My prayers and thoughts go out to the entire Wolfe Family .

Generous, intelligent, supportive, friendly, encouraging, witty, humor, wisdom, sound judgement, happy for others successes, teacher, passionate, all of these descriptions of Bill were said by many here at AAPK. I would like to add sensitive.
It was suggested that my husband and I visit this site so that we could enjoy all the postings about our friend Bill. My husband and
Bill have been friends since they were in there teens. He married Becky and we all became fast friends. Their life took them to another state but over the years we always knew that the friendship was very special. We would use all the same words to describe Bill as well. I would like to add to that by saying that Bill had many successes of his own. He was a successful football and basketball player in his youth. He was an outstanding bowler, he played a intense game of golf, and loved the "art" of picking the winners in all sports. He had a very successful career with Coca Cola and was dedicated to their products even after he retired. He was a good son, brother and husband. He was a man with tremendous pride and I know what he was most proud of was his son, Brett and his daughter, Brandi. He and Becky raised two delightful, intelligent, thoughtful, wonderful children. Their relationship with their kids was a pleasure to observe.
My husband will miss his best, most reliable and supportive friend, however he feels so lucky to have had such a friend as Bill.
For all of you here I will say that he always shared his passion for knives with me whenever I saw him. I will always keep the knives that he ordered for me and will think of him, (when they haven't been sharpened, like he said they should) when I use them.

Thank you for the insight to "Sir Wolfe" Roy and Rhonda. Bill touched a lot of peoples' hearts as is evident here. I never met him face to face, but I know he was a fine man. Drop in from time to time and say hi. If you ever have any questions about some of Bills knives that you have, the people here can answer them. Kelley

A friend sent me this little story once and I think it fits real well here!


KEEPERS

I grew up with practical parents who had been frightened by the Great Depression in the 1930's. A mother, God love her, who washed aluminum foil after she cooked in it, then reused it. She was the original recycle queen, before they had a Name for it... A father who was happier getting old shoes fixed than buying new ones. Their marriage was good, their dreams focused. Their best friends lived barely a wave away. I can see them now, Dad in trousers, tee shirt and a hat and Mom in a house dress, lawn mower in one hand, and dish-towel in the other. It was the time for fixing things ; a curtain rod, the kitchen radio, screen door, the oven door, the hem in a dress. Things we keep.

It was a way of life, and sometimes it made me crazy. All that repairing, eating, reusing, I wanted just once to be wasteful. Waste meant affluence. Throwing things away meant you knew there'd always be more.

But then my mother died, and on that clear summer's night, in the warmth of the hospital room, I was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn't any more.

Sometimes, what we care about most gets all used up and goes away...never to return. So... While we have it... it's best we love it... And care for it.... And fix it when it's broken..... And heal it when it's sick.

This is true... For marriage.... And old cars.... And children with bad report cards..... And dogs and cats with bad hips.... And aging parents.... And grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep. Like a best friend that moved away or a classmate we grew up with.

There are just some things that make life important, like people we know who are special.... And so, we keep them close!

Good friends are like stars.... You don't always see them, but you know they are always there.

Keep them close.

Bill's one of the good guys. I'll miss his wit. I bought a trapper from him not long ago and he scolded me for addressing him as "Mr." Wolfe.

While not a regular here in AAPK and moreso in "another" forum that Bill frequented also, I would like to send my sincerest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of El Lobo (Bill Wolfe) while I never met him face to face he was THE most welcoming man and I feel as if he could reach out and touch people (literally) as I know this is not truely the way it is in the cyber world he made ME as well as others feel this way I am sure, may God be with you SIR and peace fill you and yours with HIS Love R.I.P.
