Help Identifying This Type of Knife

I have a VERY strange question. Can someone put together knives using parts where you come up with a different knife? I’m now looking up an Anvil PROV USA Patent # 3317,996. Has a Clip, Sheep, & Spey blades. But when you look this up the number it goes to a Vintage Colonial PROV USA 2 blade Electricians knife. But this knife I have looks like a Vintage Colonial Anvil 3 blade pocket knife PROV USA Brown Handle NO PATENT NUMBER
Can ppl switch “body parts” on knives?

Yes some parts on some knives can be changed.
The patent # refers to the bolster or handle attachment process, not to this particular knife.

So it’s fake? I can’t sell it!! Why do ppl do things like that?

But I did not know that the patent number referred to the bolster. I will have to write that in my now Growing file of notes. Thank you!

I have serious doubts that someone would fake a anvil pocket knife, they were fine knives and I guess you could say they were kind of the top of the line for Colonial, but they were still high volume and economy priced knives. Just my 2 cents which is worth double nothing.

No it's not fake. Anvil is a brand of Colonial. They probably just put that stockman together with a box of parts. Same factory. In factory. Colonial held many patents, and as Bill there said it refers to the process and typically the machines used, but not actual models of knives.

Also if you sold me an anvil with a Colonial blade on it, as long as the knife functions properly, I wouldn't bat an eye.
