Celluloid gone bad.

Here is yet another victim of outgassing, an Ulster fishing knife. When I got it the scales had already been removed, but the damage was done. The knife basically broke in half when opened. Both of the liners and the center divider had been seriously weakened, the springs had some pitting inside, and the bolsters heavily tarnished. However one thing was different about this one. It had stainless steel blades, and they were not even touched by the corrosion. First time I have had an outgasser with SS blades. I made new liners and center divider, transferred the bolsters and cleaned up the rest to reassemble with Culpepper Royal Blue bone handle material. Just wondering if anyone else had seen an outgassing celluloid knife with stainless steel blades? Is stainless steel truly impervious to the outgassing corrosion?

Great fix OC. Looks great. I have no knowledge or experience with out gassing and stainless steel.
