I looked into Bear & Son's version of the Sharpfinger. Seems like quite a reasonable price for an American-made fixed blade. One of them is probably in my future. Thanks for putting them on my radar, Charlie! ::handshake::

Nev52...here is the Moore Maker edition of that knife made by Bear. Moore Maker called the scales Burnt Bone. I really like the knife and it carries nicely.

Some good looking Bear knives. I might actually check my local dealers to see what Bear they have on hand. My experience with them 10 years ago was not so good. I would like to examine one of those Barlows in hand.

I think you will be pleased with the large Barlow. SMKW had the rosewood on sale the other day. I wish I would purchase it. I think the new queens are made by Bear & Son. ::handshake::

Here's one made for Moore Maker by Bear and the quality is good, no major issues.

^^^^Very nice.

I heard, but have no way to verify, that Moore Maker has its own quality metrics that it includes in contracts with its makers. Presumably, those metrics result in somewhat better made knives produced for Moore Maker.

That makes sense. If you are Moore Maker you wouldn't want substandard products.

That is correct. I have bought several Moore Maker factory second knives from Bear and Son. Some are culled for very minor problems. Moore Maker has very strict Quality Control standards for any of their knives.

So far, I have only cut baling twine, but it feels good in the hand. I know one thing a bail of straw doesn't have a chance. :D
