Giving knife repair a try.

Yes David that is Linen Micarta. I like the look of micarta but the light colors are hard to keep clean when working with it. I still have a lot to learn but I am having fun.

I was uncertain whether or not to keep posting pictures of my work. I don't want to look like I am boasting. I certainly am not. I have a long way to go in this new hobby and I realize that. I have a long way to go before I get to your level of repair. I am trying new things to try to get more experience in the different aspects of knife repair. When I get close to the repair you did on my camillus scout knife I will feel like I have accomplished something.

Oh my goodness Nev! Just read all the comments about folks appreciating your work and that should tell you if anyone feels you're boasting. And if you think continuing to post pictures is boasting just check out all the pictures and posts I've made of my knives, in some cases more than once, and that should tell you something. I've never looked at it as boasting, more as being proud of my knives and wanting to show and share them with whomever is interested. I've had plenty of pictures posted where no one commented, and in some cases I thought the knives were special and was quite surprised no one commented. So you just bury those unfounded boasting concerns in a deep dark hole and please continue with your builds, mods, repairs, and PICTURES! I can assure you no one hear thinks your intentions are anything but honorable!

Big screw up.
I cracked the bone scale when I installed it, but it did not look that bad, so I figured since I paid $12.00 for the bone, I would use the knife until it broke off. I did not have to wait too long as I removed the knife from the vice after installing the rocker pin, I dropped it on the concrete floor. So that made my decision easier. Take it back apart and use something else. I don't think I am ready for bone yet.

Hey Nev we learn from each other so keep posting. All of us have made some big blunders and you should see some of the ugly knife jobs I did when I was starting out, not to say they're any better now. You keep working and soon you will be the go to guy that we will all refer new members to. Here look at some that I posted.

I used laminated wood this time. Not the look I wanted but its ok.

I agree about the laminated wood, but right now don't look at that. Did you get the correct shape, are your seems flush and smooth, or the pins the way you wanted them? Is the wood smooth and reflects the shine and color you wanted and not chipped or cracked. What I see in your pictures is a successful rehandling...Congrats.

The white bone would have looked nice Nev, but the wood is also quite impressive! You're on a real knifemaking roll, keep it up we love it! Oh yah, I don't think your problems lie so much with bone, but rather with having butterfingers! LOL!
