The Barlow equivalent of Shock & Awe!
I started this thread Thursday night & haven't been able to get back to it since Friday morning. Two grandsons showed up at the house & we are getting ready to go fishing this morning. Spent last night helping one of them rebuild a TL-29 into a single blade.
Imagine my surprise when I sneaked into the computer the morning & saw all these great Barlows!

BTW, thank you Charlie & Kaleb for the confirmation on the Case Barlow.

Here are a few more of mine. I like the Daddy Barlows. The Robeson has seen it's share of use & the Ulster has a chip out of it's backside...........kind of like me

The Schrade Grand Dad's Barlow still has the factory oil on it. It is one of the ones with a serial number. I also have a user version without the serial number. A great EDC.

Keep those Barlows pics rolling in Charlie. I noticed that you haven't posted a pic of an Empire Barlow! ??? Whaz up with that?

I just found a file with several Barlow pics in it..........I had been wondering.......

Here are a few from Ulster. The 10OT was from the Prince Albert offer.
Also here is a catalog sheet with info on the two Ulster old Timer Barlows, the 10OT & the 12OT.

If anyone has a 12OT I would love to see a pic of it!

Johnnie it is pissing down rain here, and these Barlows keep "sprouting" up on me!!
A nice set of Keen Kutters showing 3 variations, likely made by Schrade and Camillus.

Guilty as charged! But I am getting close to the end.
Here are two German made Barlows, and a Gardner from 1876-1882, probably my oldest Barlow. I put the Case XX (yeah, another one) in this pic to show the sizes. Nice slim little pocketknives, they are great for unobtrusive, useful EDC-ing. I have some Robesons proportioned like them, and carried one for quite a long time.
I have noticed some German knives rust quite easily, but keep an edge very well; any of you steel experts know what they used??
These were neglected, but I hate polishing old stuff. I took a little rust off to make the markings readable, but I'll just oil them up and put 'em back.

I've added a close-up!

I love those Keen Kutter & Imperial sheepfoot Barlows!

I only have a couple sheepfoot Barlows, neither of which I consider to be really great knives, a Queen & a Kabar. I think both are low end knives, but.........they are sheepfoot's.

Here are a couple Schrade Heritage Barlows, model # 2661. Both have nice red bone handles. The 1983 is an X-out for some reason.

Also a Keen Kutter & a Schrade 206.

Schrade did a good job an those Heritage Barlows, Dale, real purty with redbone and threaded bolsters!! Even the tang stamps are nicely styled.
And sheepfoot Barlows are really useful; I like a straight edged pocketknife. They are much more useful for a city slicker like me than a spear blade. They open mail, and cut up boxes better! Important for urban survival

Ever seen a wharcliffe in a Barlow?? Probably wouldn't fit well.

I wasn't sure what it was when I bought it, it was totally trashed and took alot of work to get it back to this, but at least now it is a good edc

If it was trashed, what better way to use it! Reminds me of those Warren Whittlers that Schrade made. No remorse necessary IMO!

that's the way I felt at the time, and in a way still do, the handle fills your hand well and the small blade is great for carving, I use it alot. still snaps al ike a beartrap. I think I have a before picture floating around somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it up.

With rising consciousness about re-using/recycling, to have a little of the planet left for our grandchildren, what better way, than to use up old manufactured parts. It saves energy, and natural resources. Nice knife, from great materials, and you didn't fire up a blast furnace or kill an elk to do it.

Not a thing wrong with that one Kaleb!

That is a great EDC & a very useful shape. I took an old OBV jack and modified the broken blade into a Wharnie. Now it is useful again.

Must make a Wharnie Barlow! The best of the best!

That's a 4-line Camillus, Dale! Is that the older stamping? I'm just learning about Camillus knives.

Charlie,
As near as I can tell from Goins' it is probably 1941-1946.
It has the four line stamp (with serif), on the master blade only.

Maybe Tom or Phil know for sure.
It is interesting that I have not seen a lot of Camillus Barlows. It is almost as if they didn't make very many of them.

I will have to dig for mine, but I think I have a couple Hammer Brand (Imperial) ones...................................somewhere. THE LIST, says I have a 2" & a 3"
