Here is some old American stag from Marble's and Cattaraugus. Nice old knives, that's the ones I like.

I've even managed to secure a small supply of New Old Stock scales from some old wall mounts. :mrgreen:

Hey M B I kinda envy the shine on your Marbles but I don't want to shine mine - it is a family heirloom so one of the Grands or Nephews will get it in "as-is" and told to keep it that way.

It wouldn't be an heirloom if I could fix the broken scale would it? Nah :wink:

That is the original polish, the blade has plenty of scratches though.

I leave `em the way I find `em ::nod::

That could be fixed without changing the handles. If the handles are loose, or you want to carry the knife without fear of the handle breaking off, there are some very good epoxies on the market that if done carefully will fuse the two pieces together. Some of the stuff can even be colored and the seam will be almost invisible.

If you are not going to use it and just pass it down, then leave it alone :wink:

Thanks guys. There are some pin cracks in the stag but not too bad for how old it is.

Henckels was known at one point for cutting bark stag all the way to the edges like the Sheffield companies did:

I'm sorry. I zoomed in 200% and don't see any pin cracks. I don't think I can get started on those knives because I don't have the appropriate positive adjectives they deserve.

Maybe T.J. said it best, "YIKES".

There are pin cracks on the IXL. The Henckels are pretty minty. Thanks again.
