Re: My latest Schrade
Trail about summed it up as well as I could.
I think the Muskrat is made by Bear. I do have a couple trappers made by Camillus with the Schrade Walden name, but as far as I have seen, they only made the trapper pattern. Someone else may have more info on this than I do. If so I do hope they will share it with us.

Re: My latest Schrade
Bear and Son made the muskrat in question. They made that one, a trapper, a stockman, and a "razor" in that series for Taylor. The bone handles are glued on. They are nice knives; I have two of them. Another U.S. made "Schrade Walden" for Taylor is commonly seen these days on ebay. They are on the 825/895 Schrade openstock or 897 UH pattern and are worm groove bone by Utica, a U.S. company. They have the "Everlastingly Sharp" etch on the blades. And they also do a similar trapper on the 293 pattern. I don't have either of those.

Re: My latest Schrade
And, as Dale said, Camillus made a trapper. They also made a yellow muskrat, with one blade a spey. This was in the window between the Schrade and the Camillus bankruptcies.

Re: My latest Schrade
Yep as Cal mentioned the Taylor knife above was indeed made by Bear and the handles are glued on with the exception of the backspring pin, this is usually a good giveaway that the knife was made by Bear. Many of their offerings up till now at least have the single pin.

Re: My latest Schrade
That is a nice one Dale!
You don’t see a lot of 832s.
They stopped making them in 1977.
Great find! Now if you can find a shield for it you will be set.

Thanks Dale! I'm generally not a big fan of wood handles, but the 832 has nice looking handles on it.

Re: My latest Schrade
George Schrade invented the wire jack and patented it in 1926. He produced them at his George Schrade Knife Company in Bridgeport CT. This was his third company. He started Press Button Knife Company around 1893 and sold it to Walden Cutlery in 1903. Then he and his brothers started Schrade Cutlery Company in 1904. He sold his shares to his brother Louis in 1910 so that he could travel the world to market the advanced knife-making machinery he had invented. In 1925 he started George Schrade Knife Company. After a full life, old George died in 1945, but his company lived on until Boker bought it in 1956. Along with wire jacks, the main production was switchblades. In 1958,when switchblades were effectively outlawed in the United States, the factory was closed.

I have so many electrician's knives now that I usually pass them by, but this one was worth buying. It is my first Schrade TL-29, and it is in exceptionally good condition, hardly used at all.

Although this Fish Knife is only stamped STAINLESS USA, I believe its a Schrade. The blades are identical to my Schrade Walden.

I have two 895 Schrade knives, bouth knives are mint (the marks on the blades, is 40 year old grease)
I paid top $$ for the Schrade, years ago. The UH.895 I have had about a year.
Like you I would like a little info on my knives, I like the Slim Premium Stockman...
The later UH897 looks like, much the same knife. Note: the blade is stamped "Schrade+" ... Ken
