Newest Case Pick-Ups

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Awesome Stainless peanut, Tom. 😎

You will have to report back to us on edge retention and sharpness, after Christmas. 😉

I can do that but my EDC's get pampered. They normally only cut open mail, boxes or bags of pet food or bags of coal. :D They don't have to do much "real work" like a farmer's knife might have to do or any whittling as Scott's knives do. Just easy, cutting tasks. :D

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups

Years ago I was enthralled with Russlocks for some reason...probably because it's such a unique pattern with that unusual clip blade and bizarre extended tang. I managed to amass about 20 or so Russlocks with different handle covers and also a few models with the drop point blade. But, eventually my interests turned to other knives (mainly Mini Trappers & knives with Wharncliffe blades) and I sold all but one of my Russlocks (a MOP custom mod).

One of the Russlocks I sold was one that I later came to regret letting go of because it had the coolest shield and blade etch of ANY Case knife I have ever seen. I literally could not stop thinking about it and wishing I had hung onto it. So, I began searching for another one. Apparently this model from 2008 is not particularly common on the secondary market but I finally found one on eBay. Unfortunately, the seller wanted waaaaay too much for it, but after extended back and forth negotiations, we finally settled on a mutually agreeable price--although it was still waaaay more than I wanted to pay, I felt I had better just suck it up and get it while I could as I might not see another one for sale at any price for many more years, if ever. Turns out, the seller mixed up her shipping labels and I ended up getting an infant's onesie (a little one-piece baby outfit) instead of the Russlock I so desperately wanted. ::disgust:: Naturally, I got a refund, but the mis-sent knife was never returned to the seller, so once again, I was out of luck.

Well, lo and behold, imagine my delight and surprise when another 2008 Russlock showed up on eBay...this time for auction (instead of BIN like the other one). I was even more delighted when I won the auction (for less than half what I had paid for the previous one...and, interestingly, the exact same amount that I sold my first one for all those years ago).
::ds::
And here it is:

Now, let's be honest...is this not the absolute coolest shield and blade etch you have ever seen on a Case knife? 8) ::nod:: 8)

Congratulation ~Q~. Such a lucky break for you. And yes, that is a really cool shield.

And speaking of lucky breaks, I was browsing eBay, just for something to do, when I ran across this. Now I had decided to curtail my purchases for the month of November (went a little overboard in October) but couldn't pass up this Case Mini-Trapper. The etch on the blade is what got me. My dad worked for Builders Supply, Evansville Indiana in the 1950's. I'm sure this is not the same Builder's Supply. I think they went out of business years ago but it makes a great memento for me. It surprised me because I had forgotten I set the snipe.

Any guesses as to the name of this color bone? It's coming with no box and the auction had next to zero information in it.

Yes...definitely Smooth Chestnut Bone...and a beauty at that. Nice pick up, jerryd. ::tu::

Just for comparison, here's a Jigged Chestnut Bone (2021 6107 Zippo Edition) although my 6107 looks a bit lighter and more orange than your 6207

I recently snagged this 1971 6207 to complete my 1970s decade 07 collection.

Not sure if it's Red Bone or Brown Bone...depending on the light, it could be either. (May even be Delrin not Bone...sometimes it's difficult for me to tell the difference on the older knives, but I'm pretty sure this one is Bone.) ::undecided::
