Beau-ti-ful work Olde
. I really need 1 or 2 myself, that mil-style holster I purchased really doesn't suit me. Too heavy, hurts my back and my leg, yours looks so much better. All the weight much better distributed, and looks mighty perty, good job

Some of you probably saw this already but if not, interesting read and tribute to an iconic rifle - and its inventor. https://www.americanrifleman.org/articl ... paign=0420

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
The new shoulder holster I just finished also fits the new Ruger Wrangler. Ruger came out with the Wrangler several months ago as a less expensive 22 single action. I had been fondling and drooling on the ones at the gunshows over the winter and picked one up a while back. It is a 22 short, long, long rifle only (no magnum cylinder), with the frame, grip, and trigger guard made from aluminum alloy. The barrel and cylinder are blued steel. The grips are checkered black composition. The alloy parts are available in 3 Cerracote colors, silver, bronze, and as mine which is black. It comes in 4 5/8" barrel only at this time. It uses the standard Ruger new model single action operating system with the transfer bar, and opening the loading gate is all that is needed to reload the cylinder. One thing that is somewhat different than the Single Six is that when the loading gate is opened, the cylinder can be turned in either direction. After I had mine out to the range, I can report that it is a good shooter too. Mine shoots to the point of impact just below the top of the front sight out to about 25 yards. I also was able to shoot some various brands of 22 long rifle ammo over the chronograph to get an idea of what velocities can be expected with the results as follows:
Winchester high velocity hollow point =1012 feet per second
Federal hvhp = 1001 fps
Remington hvhp = 981 fps
CCI Mini Mag hp = 974 fps
CCI Stinger hp = 1151 fps
Federal AM 22 solid = 1012 fps
The manufacturers list price for the Wrangler is $249, but most gunshops including my favorite local one are selling it for $199. I think it is a great all around piece for plinking and small game hunting, and will do well as a 22 kit gun also.

Nice write up on the Wrangler OC. A friend got one and everything you said about it is spot on. I've got $100 in Cabelas gift cards and when this virus stuff is over I'll own one as well. I've got a Colt New Frontier from 1975 that's comparable in size but I don't shoot it much because the collector prices are through the roof! The Wrangler will fit the bill perfectly for what I need.

Thanks for the input on the Wrangler OC. I've been looking at similar revolvers recently and was not up to speed on the Wrangler.

I received this a while back from American Rifleman on-line but didn’t watch it until now. Interesting video. Some marketing included in it but I have M&P pistols and don’t find it to be unfounded hype. Hope you enjoy watching.

Nice rifle and nice work! Those Turks were plentiful and cheap a few years ago. How do you like the Wheeler finish? I've used Dura Cote, KG gun Cote and Brownells Aluma Hyde, but never Wheelers. The reason I ask is I'm getting ready to do an 870 Police trade in that's already parkerized and am thinking what finish to put on it.

The wheeler coating worked on the bottom metal but not the receiver, started coming off right away. Had the same problem with an AK I built a few years ago. I don't recommend it.Byrd wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2020 2:40 pm Nice rifle and nice work! Those Turks were plentiful and cheap a few years ago. How do you like the Wheeler finish? Thanks Ken. I'll stick with what I've got then. I've had good success with them.
I looked at the thread you posted of the build. Very good work! I miss the days of the cheap mil surp!
