Very interesting presentation, Mike. It looks as tho you have the perfect replacement for your used and much respected knife.

Unk wrote: Thu Mar 09, 2023 10:13 pm Beautiful knives, guys.

I haven't bought many - if any - knives in the last couple of years. I've been carrying this little 63090 every day since 2011. I thought it would be interesting to post some pics of it new in 2011, then in 2016, then 2023 to see the progression of "pocket worn"

I finally bought a little Case 6318 last week to start carrying. Love the propeller shield, and it's a tad longer knife (1/4"). The little 63090 has done everything I needed for 12 years, but the bone is cracked in several places, and it's time to let it rest a little. :D
Great to see the progression and hear how it served you well. Nice pair. Hope the next one lasts like that, although I had to wonder how the bones got cracked and if it was due to manufacturer or user? Thanks and good show. ::tu:: ::handshake::

It was ALL user-induced damage. I have dropped it probably 20 times over the years, many times on concrete or tile. And always accompanied by some cuss words.

redrider, your Big Chief looks great. I have difficulty in getting a good edge on mine.

Today's knife, a Barlow, is one of the only knives I have ever forced a patina on.

Not sure about the Queen, I do know Herb has dealt with a bunch of Queen Big Chiefs so I'll get his overall consensus on blade edge retention. I do know this Cooper is sharp.

Got tired of "putting off" fixing my #45 and installing a diver's sheepsfoot/hawkbill hybrid blade and repairing a #45S; so I just ordered one of these. Do they have any plans to reintroduce the clip-point blade?

I'm so glad that Cooper Cutlery was able to bring a "real" Big Chief back to the market, instead of that hideous rebranded Granddaddy Barlow that SMKW is calling a Big Chief. I have a '60s #45 and a '90s #45EO (as well as a '70s #45s with a broken backspring that apparently never left the Queen factory until the closure), and I've gotten afraid to carry them.

Not sure about the clip blade, but PM herbva if you're looking for a backspring. He might have one or know where you can get one cheap. 😉👍

I’m not technically packing it at the moment. But this CASE folding hunter I got off of Steamboat Willie a while ago is doing supper duty!
