TFL, Since I sometimes allude to my Kentucky residence, I mistakenly assumed most would understand the Alabama bird was not my original shot, but a copy. In future I will so designate. With no false modesty I can claim to be about the poorest photographer in the AAPK; only rarely blessed with an effective shot. I do know what bokeh is and I suspect many would think I regularly use it since my pictures are often blurred, not for stylistic purposes.

Thank you for the kind if misapplied praise.
MY camera is a Panasonic DMC-Z58.

Bulgarians slaughter Christians, miniature from the Menology of Basil II, 10th century, in the Vatican Library.
There is a knife on the belt of the Bulgarian with the yellow clothes. It looks like a Finnish type.

Saw this in an antiques shop outside Chattanooga.
It made me think of a few of you.
Sorry about the glare. Couldn’t eliminate it.

Interesting piece Charlie. "Marines Through the Ages" perhaps?
Must be the Officer's Club, judging by all the epaulets and buttons . . . .

Hi all, yesterday we took a child too the Shriners Hospital in Chicago. We brought a bunch of blankets made by the ladies at a nursing home. It was a wonderful experience. I am the one in the blue cap. Breakfast at Denny's and lunch at the Cracker Barrell, I didn't need dinner after all of that. Never a charge too the family. Bob

There are some places in Central America where used toilet paper is thrown in the trash, not in the toilet. They do this because the plumbing and sewer systems are bad and the poorly made paper doesn't break down very well. It is one of the things immigrants from poor areas have to "unlearn" when they come to the US. You guys in Texas and the Southwest don't see this? It does happen in SoCal - but it's pretty rare now compared to when I was growing-up.

Down here in Texas, there are many people who throw used toilet paper away in the trash rather than flushing it down the toilet. Most of them are like me - live in a rural area and have septic tanks. My family has been disposing of used TP in the trash since 1975. Sure reduces the frequency they need to be pumped.
The worst things to put in a septic tank, in decreasing order of negativity is
1- anti-bacterial cleaning solutions
2- grease from frying pans
3- ground up food through a garbage disposal unit or uneaten food down the toilet
4- toilet paper
The only thing that should go into a septic tank is what goes in your mouth.
Toilet paper has gotten better over the years with some specifically being made to be "septic tank safe".
You can test how "septic friendly" your TP is with a little experiment.
Put 4 sheets of TP in a sealable plastic container. Fill the container about 2/3 with water, seal and shake for about 10 seconds. The longer it takes to dissolve, the harder it is on your septic tank. Scott's dissolves very quickly. Charmin will take forever. We choose to not make my little collection of bacteria work on the cellulose in the TP. Even bacteria "poop" in that they leave waste behind. Any TP digested by the tank bacteria gets "pooped out" into your tank by the bacteria, so it sludges up faster than when TP is NOT flushed.
OH, that those stupid "flushable" scrubbing heads for cleaning toilets???? "Flushable" just means "It will flush through a toilet and not get hung in the toilet drain gooseneck." Sanitary napkins, Tampons and those scrub heads are all "flushable". They are hell on the regular sewage systems and death to septic tanks.
And that is your "Safe and Satisfactory Septic System Operation" training lesson for the week.
