Now I need to get em all hung up so I can take some pictures of my collection and figure out which states I still need to aquire to have all 50 states. I'm guessing..., I should have about 30 now. Or somewhere in that ball park.

I think I still need AK, AZ, AR, CA, CO, CT, DC, KS, ME, MA, MI, MT?, ND, NE, NV, NH, NM, NJ, NY, RI, SC, VT, WA

So I may be a few short of 30.

Looks like I need a lot of "N" states.

If all goes well, I'll need another year or so (maybe 1 1/2) & then I hope I'll have them all.

It took me a while to admit I collected action figures. One here, one there (usually when $10 or less for a $20 or so figure) really added up.

Here's most of the six-inch scale ones (Diamond Select Dolores Abernathy is 7"--closest I could get to a decent 8" cowgirl on a budget).

That's nice Dan! I have a few from ships during the Vietnam War and a few others but not a real collection. I do collect Zippos, but just odd ones I find here and there.

I have collected wood carvings for years. Belt buckles by the hundreds, axes by the dozen and old tools by the score. And many, many other things. Now when I want to downsize, it turns out getting rid of the stuff is so fun as collecting it...

Has anyone else found it interesting how what you may have thought was so great collect turns out to be nothing people (younger people) are interested in starting to collect or what older people are collecting anymore? ...

A lot of what I collected seems like it has gone down in vale or there is no interest in it at all anymore...

Stuff piles up around the house in the garage and when it comes to get rid of it... well not easy ...unless you just 'bout give it away

... I was given a couple of 5-gallon buckets with glass power insulators for helping someone move... Not actively collecting. They told me "These are worth a lot of money"...Yeah... if you can get that 'Ol time machine going and go back about 20 years or more...

I collected beer tap handles for a while, then they piled up I decided to get rid of them. Not worth enough to sell on eBay and shipping it cost too much. So, I had a few yard sales/flea market sales and it was hard to even get 40%-70% of my money back on them. It seems like "The times they are a changhing" ...

Talk with any antique dealer and they will tell you the same thing. The younger generations don’t want Mom and Dad’s stuff or Grandpa and Grandma’s. Glassware or China of any kind you might as well use for target practice. I collected high end costume jewelry for 40 years, most sells for 1/2 of what it did 20-25 years ago. Even pre-WW2 knives aren’t worth what they were 20+ years ago, with a few exceptions like Case.
The only thing I’ve made money on has been unused Zippos.
The beautiful oak furniture we bought 30 years ago has little value now. The younger generation would rather go to IKEA.
Should have bought more guns!

I need to get mine out. We leased a property that used old, badly rotted telegraph poles for a grapevine arbor, and Granddad and I took all the insulators off--and they spent a lot of time in the living room. Some are blue glass, something I have a soft spot for.

Dog: I agree. Collecting as an investment is probably not a good idea. Look at cars. It's nearly impossible to even recoup your money. I didn't collect them but I saw people pay big bucks for Beannie Babies and now I see bins full of them for $2. I do think knives seem to be holding steady and even increasing, but that's always subject to change. Knife collectors probably die with their collections anyway. I will. Luckily my grandsons are interested in them. Collect for the love of it, you can't take it with you. Never seen a hearse with a luggage rack or a trailer hitch. O'.

I finally got all of my plates hung up today.

I now have 28 different states. Which means that I still need 22 but I'll get there.

Also painted a little wooden frame I had in the barn & hung it up. Here I will keep the 4 oldest plates that I have to kind of showcase them a bit. Right now, my 4 oldest plates are Texas 1964, NC 1974, Nebraska 1976 & Oklahoma 1977.

And now I was just given another plate from my neighbor Peter. I was showing him my collection & he said "Grab ya a phillips screwdriver, I got one of those you can have." So I did and it's one that I didn't have yet.

Nice bunch of plates, Tom!

The Montana plate has me curious: the first character or two of a Montana plate number usually indicate the county of origin. Yours starts with 7C. I'm wondering if that means it was a commercial plate issued in Flathead County?

Might do some additional research into that.

... I also collect cast iron. I cook on it and like to find odd pieces/brands. I also collect Tools/knives/axes from Scandanavian countries...(and Finland). So, I bought this pan pretty much just because it is made in Norway...

I guess now I am also collecting cast iron from Scandanavian countries...
