Mornin fellers, trying something new today. I've always been a one carry knifer, minus hunting season when one is on my belt, too. So today I'm sporting a Schatt combo. The File/Wire is in my lfp, and trying to decide if I like a knife in my watch pcoket of my jeans on the right. Do I need two knives? Probably not, but its fun anyways!

Gardogg,

Nice schrades, didja get the game this weekend?

Pinnah,

I didnt know what an Opinel was, and now I got the idea I 'need' one.

IM-

thanks sir, I do like them Schatts. It took me a long time to finally get a 'just right' one. I have one more, a Railsplitter from 2005 in crimson bone, but I can't beat to carry it, its too pretty. ::shrug::

TAB, just remember that a stock Opinel is sort of like a kit car, or a Tandy leather wallet kit. I find them almost unusable "out of the box". They require a great deal of tinkering and tuning to bring them into shape. The finish on the stock beech handles is horrible, just totally horrible. The pivots are usually super tight. The lock ring stock isn't confidence inspiring.

They are amazing slicers and go through wood like nothing I've ever used. The blade is convex ground.

But, foretold is forewarned.

Thanks dog. I have to admit the OTs stayed at home today. I carried my 92 Texas Jack as usual and a PAL because it had a cap lifter this afternoon.

I love this thread - all the work-a-day knives hang out here - good stuff! I went to the Carolina Panthers - Dallas Cowboy's game in Charlotte yesterday, had this little (3") Sharp jackknife in my pocket. I hadn't been to a game in Charlotte in about three years, parked about 20 minutes away in a down town lot and walked to the North Gate, finally got up to the front and realized it was slow as hell because they were patting everyone down and then running a wand up and down to check for weapons! I thought, "Oh #@%&" there goes my knife - I watched for a minute and realized the wand guy wasn't going further down than the calf, so I bent down and adjusted my sock, while I dropped the little jack in my shoe - went right in, but had to get it out fast after clearing security - hurts like the dickens to walk around with a pocketknife in your shoe! I think I am going to swear off NFL games - I don't like getting patted down and wanded every damn place I go - a sports event is optional so I may let them bite the dust. In Cincinnati last summer we didn't get that treatment at the Reds game, just never know what to expect anymore in the Chicken Little Kingdom of America. OH

Carryin' the red bone Case CV trapper today...the choice was dictated by my choice of pants, these particular jeans have a watch pocket that is the perfect depth for this knife to ride in and be easily retrieved.

Dropped this little Old Timer 108 into the front pocket just 'cause it's a new arrival (thanks Junebug) and I wanted to get acquainted with it a bit!

Same ole, same ole + a leek. The funny thing is, the colonial does the lions share of the work. I would choose it for EDC over most of my MUCH more expensive knives in the ever slowing rotation, the carbon steel and edge retention is exceptional.

I put this one in my pocket today as an add-on, because it looks very October-ish, and because I like to play with it until my thumb gets sore, then I put it away again for awhile. The contract for these, by an embarassing entrepeneur, was given to the ::tu:: all-American Great Eastern Cutlery. This is the only connection I ever intend to have with aforementioned individual.

Old Hunter's story brought this to mind. We have some "secure" areas at work. The picture below shows a normal work day set of EDCs for me. When I enter a "secure" area I must pass through a metal detector. They give you a small plastic tray for your pocket contents as you pass through the metal detector. I do this pretty frequently so the "security" folks know me. A couple of days ago I was approaching the the entrance and one of the guards was a real wise guy! As I neared the metal detector he removed the small plastic tray, reached behind the counter and replaced it with a 5 gallon Spackle bucket!!!!! ::rotflol::
