The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Excellent!!!!!! I keep getting the urge to get one of the new Copperheads, but can’t get off the fence. I’ve carried a stockman for over thirty years now. Old habits are hard to break.

I know what you mean Phil. But if you gave one some pocket time, I don't think you would be disappointed. They feel good in the hand and pocket!!

Very cool! I bet that 47 pen would be a great pocket carry.

Well thanks a lot Smitty. You just cost me the price of one of these.
And I already had one. Thank goodness for the difference in the bone jig, the placement of the blades and of course the 20 year difference in the age.

Those are pretty ones, Hesmike! Case did a great job with their delrin jigging.

Here is a 1971 Case Granddaddy Barlow that came today:
Has great walk& talk, complete with half stop!
This one has steel liners and steel bolsters. Had to clean up several small rust spots on the mark side bolster. The spots are still showing but can't be felt.
Blade is full length but has lost a bit of edge, not much.
The mark side stamp is excellent but on the pile side the pattern number is very light.
Good strong mark side stamp.
Very weak pile side stamp, the 3 at the end is hard to see.
This is my 1st Granddaddy Barlow and once I get a good edge on it I might be tempted to carry this 50 year year old gal around next deer season and leave my ol' #39 Queen at the house.

Yeah, yeah, I know and I do appreciate him helping to spend my money. Lord knows I don't do a very good job of it all on my lonesome.
Hey Jerry, I'm like that with helping with work also. I can watch it all day long!!

Thanks for the compliments on the Granddaddy Barlow! I enjoy most all of the used knives I buy or trade for but seldom does one keep my attention as this one has.
