Today's mail delivery -- Camillus 72 - '89 to Close, Yellow - Unfinished
This was one of the last #72s made. It's assembled, waiting final finishing. The blades are not sharpened. The pins are not ground down and the bolsters are not polished. I don't know for sure these were not put together from parts but it has the waffle pattern on the pin ends like I would expect to see on a factory assembled knife.
The 2003 catalog was the last year the jigged brown Delrin handle #72s showed up. They were not on the 2004 price list. Only the #72Y(ellow) was on that 2004 price list so this is one of the last of the last for the #72s.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Thanks T.J. -- I have a York coming this week (maybe Monday) and a Camillus long line I bought because the handles look like they could be bone. Probably not but it was cheap. After that, the only one I know about is the Camillus white Delrin Boy Scout. Of course there are several I didn't know about until someone said, "Hey! Do you have one of these?"

Nice unfinished 72 Yello-Jaket Jerry.
I think you are correct, it was assembled in the factory and not finished before they closed.

Here's a little 2 1/2" R Klaas Germany I just picked up. Tang stamps are faint but still visible... Missing the bolsters on the front side, but still a nice little German stag number I got for under 10 bucks

TripleF: A question. When you receive a knife, like your barlow, if it is in good condition except for discoloration on the blade do you leave it as is or do you try to polish up the blades?

Remove any of the active rust, and leave the rest, and a very, very light oiling on the blades for prevention.

LOL.....thanks for filling in for me TJ!
I have polished some, but am finding myself leaving the patina in place after hitting the blade with the knife eraser, steel wool, sharpening stone and some oil. Just something about the "aged" look I'm starting to like......

Well, I didn't actually get this one in the mail but rather @ my local Lowe's Home Improvement Center.
While milling around looking at some new Bosch drills I happened to spy this Case Sosbuster Jr. //// All alone on a rack by itself.
$22.54 with tax !!!!
I'm happy !!!

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............
Yesterday's mail brought these two. The York Cutlery has a Solingen Germany stamp on the back of the main blade. It's pretty crudly done, came with rust on the blades, slow blades, a tipped coping blade and significant blade wobble on the main blade. The blades cleaned up pretty well and a little 'Quick Release' (Thanks Scott) restored the snap. It has bone handles but the hafting was given a lick and a promise if attempted at all and there's a chip on one corner that looks like it may have come from the factory like that. I'm keeping the knife because I didn't have this tang stamp but I gave the seller neutral feedback. Had I not wanted the tang stamp, I would have given negative feedback because other than the rust, nothing was mentioned.
The other one in the mail was this '80s Queen Electrician's knife made on a military contract. It's going out real soon for a make over. Stay tuned for the results on that.
