camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Well I don’t see near as many as Skip seems to find, but while in vacation in the Smokey Mountains back in October I found these two gems in an antique store. I put the schrade up and I’m toting the Boy Scout one to replace my old beloved edc that went missing a few months ago.

I’d be pleased as punch to tote that one. I love that shield and those dark brown handles.

Yes sir. I know it isn’t the correct nomenclature. “But a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet”. To steal from the Bard.

Thought I would post these here. Over the last year and a half, I've added to my Bone Handle Camillus 72's. All the ones in the right column have the pen blade next to the main blade with the coping blade on the left bolster. The two on the left column are the more traditional 72 pattern with the coping blade next to the main blade. All bone handles with short line Camillus tang stamp.

Sorry the photo is kind of dark, cloudy here, taken indoors with phone.

I picked this one up today. Another addition to my group. A Camillus 72, Short line, bone handle Gen 1. The blades do have wear, staining and spiders, but are tight with good snap and no wobble. The Camillus is worn on the main clip blade, but the rest of the tang stamp with the short line is distinguishable. The bone handles are tight and still have good color and has the federal style shield. I've just oiled the blades, but plan on giving her a warm mineral oil bath and cleaning up the blade wells. This makes my fourth gen 1.
