Great knives all! ::tu::

Today it's the Buck Tempest clipped in the RFP, the Ka-bar Barlow in the LFP, the SAK Classic in the WP, and the Rare Breed in the shot glass! ::nod::

Happy Birthday America! ::ds::

Well.......ya see.........I was making some of my secret barbeque sauce ::nod:: .........and when I got to the secret ingredient :wink: ............. I accidentally splashed about an ounce of it into my coffee :shock: ::dang:: ........ And that's how the party got started ::shrug:: .............I'm starting slow though ::nod:: . Setting up the grill now and soaking some wood chips. All it needs now is a match. I got everything ready so I can watch the game later. :) After the game (or when we get hungry) it's ready to go. ::tu::

Dave, I have a very similar Imperial, this little penknife. As it is only 2-3/4" long (smallest knife I own) I reserve it for dress slack use only. I just came in from four hours of yard work (sitting under the fan, sipping water, and reading AAPK to cool down now), been carrying my favorite yard work knife, an Old Cutler Texas Jack that Philco gifted me with earlier this year. The quality of that Colonial Old Cutler simply amazes me everytime I pick it up. OH

Gents,

Those are some fine peanuts. Thanks for the warm welcome. A little bit more about my tastes. I carry in slacks my case peanuts, Sundays usually. Otherwise, it is a Case congress pattern, the 3.5 in one. I recently got into queen and shatt/Morgan. I have a Birdseye maple queen stockman, d2 steel that I can sharpen to save my life, and now that schatt whittler I posted, my current carry knife. I love the congress pattern and warming up to the stockman pattern, if I ever get it sharp. If you fellas care to, I posted a thread in queen collectors portion asking for help, and extra knowledge would be wonderful.

Y'all have a happy 4th.

I don't think of these as 'nuts.

The little blade is out in front of the big blade. That screams Jack to me!

Now I know all Jacks are not set up that way. But that is how they SHOULD be.

And on THAT note since I'm putting on Carhardt jeans this morning with shallow pockets I'm going to carry my 3.125 Imperila Ireland Shell Jack with black "scales".

Gotta go get ready to leave so no pic just now.

I always thought that the peanut was a small variation on the jack knife, barlows too.

I'm back to packin' my GECs today.

Here's a photo of some of my current rotation:
carry blades.JPG
I rotate these blades. The case peanuts are my church/slacks blades. The pearl one is from my wife, the black derlin is from my dad, it's a 91 case. The case congress, schatt whittler are my current carry blades. The kershaw scallion and the old timer get some use when all else are dull. The old timer is a USA one, my brother gave it to me at his wedding. The scallion is a neat carry knife, if you like the clip pocket types.

Wow, already hitting the flea markets?
I kinda thought GEC was still a little on the unknown side. ::smirk::

Great knife, looks like the scales should hold up fine, even with that little crack.

Did you get a good price?

I'm packing this old Case 6347 HP 10 dot. Daddy bought it new in 1970, six years before I was born, gave it to his daddy, and now it's mine. Man does this knife have some good metal in it. I wish all mine were this good.

Johnnytwoshoes, I think I got a good deal trade 2 knives that were worth about 70 and 5 dollars boot. The knife is a 2nd and the crack appears that it is not all the way thru, more like a nautral line. The handles are nice and tight I think it will hold up fine. I really like it, will buy more GEC's for my collection in the future.

Thank you sir. You can tell that Papa really worked the fool out of that sheepsfoot blade over the years. But it still snaps open and shut like it was new and will sure enough cut. I'm thinking I'm going to have to add some more of these to the fold.
