The knives on this Imperial counter card are stamped USA.

I have other Imperials that are stamped USA as well as some Colonials that are stamped USA.
Apparently both companies used the USA stamp.

A lot of the WWII era Imperial bone handle utility were stamped with only USA as well.

Nice thread Bill, I`m sure all of us have some of those olde shell handled knives, here are a few from the old days: 1. Old Colonial with a very strange razor type blade, only one Ive ever seen. 2. Old German Swanworks. 3 Old "Ideal" which really werent bad little cheap knives.

I'm rather glad I've been snagging knives without chisel blades. I know what I wanted to say "Flat Ground". I can't help it. I like flat ground Spears best of all!

 Nice one Bob! The knife AND the picture! ::tu::

You don't find many of the Barlow style with a spear! Probably 99% of them have a clip ::nod::

Nice knife Bob. One of the few "shell" handled knives I've seen that I like. Like that blade configuration. Wouldn't call it a Barlow though. Maybe a swell end jack?

I've always had a hard time with that pattern, TJ!
Really don't know what to call it ::shrug:: although I have called it a swell end,
but it seems like someone corrected me, in that it wasn't a swell end??

They make that same knife with a longer bolster and it is a true Barlow!

Know what ya mean Joe, kinda like the definition of a Jack Knife? To me a Barlow has enlongated bolsters and no end cap (barehead) and a Jack to me is first and foremost, blades opening from only one end.

Thank for the nice comments guys. I`d call it a swell end jack. I dont normally pay much mind to most shells but the pretty handles were calling my attention and when I opened the blades I was blown away. Couldnt let it get away....but if I remember right got for less tha $10.....money well spent to my way of thinkin and a permanent place in my collection. Keep em coming!!!
