Thanks for the explanation Jerry. I appreciate it!jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 6:58 pm It means they ground away most of the bark (character of the Stag) from the front of the Stag scale to make that seamless transition from handle to bolster instead of thinning the handle from the back side.

Mail call today, XX era 6231 1/2 big Jack, used but not abused. I like large jacks and this is a great one.

I just bought this 6207 Mini Trapper and sheath. I really like the knife but it gets stuck in the sheath!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Nice!
Better a bit too tight than a bit too loose. Sure don't want that beauty to drop out unnoticed!
The leather will eventually stretch and form to the knife. Just let the knife sit in there a while.
A thought on storing a knife in a leather sheath, though.
Over time, if not taken out and wiped down periodically, some knives can develop verdigris, green oxidation on brass or copper.
Take care and God bless,
Steve

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Put the knife into an old very thin nylon sock, or a woman’s nylon hose. Then put the knife (in the sock) into the sheath and leave it there for a few days. Most of the sock will be sticking out, or cut it to fit as necessary. The part around the knife and in the sheath should be no thicker than the single thin layer of the sock. That should stretch the leather just enough to let the knife slide out easier yet still be snug enough to keep it from falling out.

I used this process on a gun holster. It worked great.

Thank you all, appreciate the comments. Steve, I lucked into a little bit of a Case 1960's through 1970's honey hole. I've got a few more coming and then I think it has dried up.

Second from the top might qualify as red bone. The others are what I would call Original bone. Others may disagree.
