A couple of older Queen Barlow styles #23, in the mailbox today, one is great the other, both hidden springs are broken.

I've got several Queen barlows, the ones built with the regular exposed springs and the 1st time I handled one of these aluminum framed, lightweight, hidden spring "things", I didn't know what to think. I realized they are made like the #45 Big Chief models. They seem to be pretty well made but I've never carried one for an EDC.Waukonda wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 2:10 pmI like the beefy look of those two, that was worth the walk to the mailbox!treefarmer wrote: ↑Wed Feb 04, 2026 4:17 am A couple of older Queen Barlow styles #23, in the mailbox today, one is great the other, both hidden springs are broken.1000003283.jpg

I've replaced a fair amount of Queen springs, mostly newer ones though. Seems to be a recurring theme...

Bought this custom knife from Tim Knott of T Knott knives. Easy open barlow with narra wood handles. I must say this knife is as good as any custom knife I’ve owned. Tim is doing remarkable work on his knives. I can’t wait to add more of his knives to my collection. Tim provided a nice wooden box, COA and a shot glass. Very pleased with this. I really like that it has no brass on it. The run up is tight and the centering is perfect. I like the coined liners too.

Beautiful S&M!
After thinking it over I've decided I should point something out in case a Hawaii single blade fan is unaware. The modern S&M Heritage knives were advertised as having 1095 carbon steel blades and iron bolsters and liners. I presume the iron is actually soft steel. IIRC there is some salt water and humidity nearby. Preserve it carefully.
