I picked up this Barminski* ...
the scales drew me in
*Tom Barminski was a renowned knife maker from Loveland, Colorado, known for his custom fixed blade knives made from D2 tool steel. His knives are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts alike. Unfortunately, Tom Barminski passed away in 2013, but his legacy lives on through his beautifully crafted knives, which can still be found in various shops and collections.

I saw this Begg Knives Micro Burst and couldn't resist getting one. It's a collaboration between custom knifemaker Rod Olson and Begg Knives.
This first picture is a full-on custom of the same model by Rod Olson. This is not my knife. Just an example of what Rod does. Here are a few pictures of the collaboration Micro Burst that I just received. Really nice little knife. The dollar bill is for size reference. In my last picture, you can just barely see the low profile front flipper tab at the front of the handle. Button Lock with a VG10 blade.

Buck Canoe . Surprising quality for a $28 knife. Smooth. Snappy. Sharp. No gaps or proud pins. Scales are flush with the bolsters.

Wow, this is a beautiful bowie knife, Dog, I'm intrigued with the handle and the super-shiny killer blade, probably the nicest and most unique fixed blade I've seen in many moons.GSPTOPDOG wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 2:17 am I picked up this Barminski* ...the scales drew me in

Considering it's roots, it should be quite valuable one day. Great catch, buddy.

Ha! No way would I spend that much on one knife. That photo was just to show the custom model that mine was designed after.
The production models like mine are only $120 and a good value at that price.

When I bought the Micro Burst that I posted above, I noticed that the description said the black portions of the handle slabs are machined aluminum. I thought to myself: "They sure look like rubber or plastic to me". Now that I have the knife in my hands I'm still not 100% sure but they might indeed be part of the aluminum handle and not rubber or plastic inlays.

I really like Begg Knives Rick. Their overseas made line is top quality in my opinion. I watched a vid about that also. He said it had to be to compete in today's market, but his manufacturing requirements are very strict. Your Micro Burst and other Beggs I have seen confirm Todd's commitment to to a high quality standard, same as his designs have always been.Railsplitter wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 11:05 pmThanks, Tony!
