Re: It's In The Mail
Still waiting on my 2020 AAPK forum knife. Tracking says that Canada customs released it to Canada Post, in Mississauga Ontario, on Nov 19. It is still listed as in transit to me 12 days later. Should be an overnight transit, if by plane, and no more than 3 days if by truck. Tracking info says "Item delayed, stay tuned for further details", which I have to believe means they lost it.

Have faith Dan. They'll get it on it's way as soon as everyone finishes fondling it and oohing and ahhing over it.danno50 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 01, 2020 2:40 pm Still waiting on my 2020 AAPK forum knife. Thanks for the optimism, Jerry.
You are right Skip. A couple of years I did not get in on the first purchase, but, found someone willing to sell or trade on the secondary market. So don't give up hope.

Spyderco Roadie. I have long admired this model. I like the blade steel, I like the shape. It's just small enough, without being a fiddly little thing. It's also designed to be legal carry practically anywhere.

Re: It's In The Mail
Supposedly, Spyderco came out with this model to create a knife that would meet a planned change to FAA/TSA rules that would allow pocketknives on flights that were under a certain length and met certain other criteria. That planned change was then dropped (as I guess it would cut into the millions the TSA was making, and the huge cottage industry in selling TSA confiscated knives), but Spyderco came out with the Roadie anyway, as they felt it would be a good "socially acceptable model. As I understand, it's quite a popular model in places like the UK with strict knife laws. I like a lightweight knife under 3 1/2" for household tasks (and I'm a fan of sheepsfoot and Wharncliffe blades), and it falls in great for that; and as I understand Bohler N690Co is supposedly really good at edge retention, rust resistance, and decently tough.

Re: It's In The Mail
More Spydercos. I am very thankful I beat out the bots and resellers to get these three. They may not be the configurations I wanted, but they are the models I wanted. And a cheap Byrd, which I told myself I would allow me one if the price was close to $10 or so. My budget was $75, and my plans was just the Para 3. But, prices were better, so I got the Para 3, Native 5, and Byrd Robin 2!
They held the second sale online this year, due to COVID 19. That allowed me, living in VA, to purchase items I normally couldn't get. I hate flying, and I can't even imagine what driving 3/4 of the way across the country would be in any car, whether it be any of my grandparents' cars, or my 23-year-old truck.
And a bit of a little story. Way back last month when the Dec. 3 date for the sale was announced on the Spyderco Forum, I saved the date on both my paper calendar, and that of my computer. Come close to 12, my folks wanted me to go with them to throw out the trash (as it's heavy, you know; and they're both pushing 80); I then said "crud looks like I'm gonna miss out on a lot"; but went along anyway. Tried it on my phone. Got about 50 timeouts. Same with my PC. I was beginning to think " Guess The Good Lord doesn't want me to buy any cheap Spyderco.". Well, finally, about 15 minutes ago, after about 20 more timeouts, I was able to score a Paramilitary 3, a Native 5 LW, and a very cheap Byrd Robin 2 that happened to be in my cart on my cellphone before a timeout.
I spent $127 on these three. These aren't the exact ones I'm getting, and since they're seconds, I don't even know what's gonna be wrong with them. I've bought Spyderco seconds from resellers before, and they had few problems, nothing that bad.
Para 3 G-10, black handle black S30V blade. Spyderco MSRP of $210, will usually run about $150 most other places. Cost me $66. I wanted the camo handle/black blade combo, but don't mind black at all. The compression lock is also said to be easier to use for left-handed people (i.e ME!) than it is for right-handed people.
Native 5 LW, $150 MSRP $105 average price. Cost me $37.
The Byrd (Spyderco's low-cost, China-made line) Robin 2 appears to be the "cheap" version of the Dragonfly. Reasonable at typical prices of $30, but I scored one as a second for a whopping $11!

Re: It's In The Mail
Just picked up a nice mint or near mint crossed arrows / "Double Arrows" knife.
Made in China but good little knives with a bail!
Just as info, crossed arrows is a symbole of friendship.

If anyone has an idea what the pictures on this knife represent I'd be glad to here it.

There must be knives being transported all over the country in the mail at the moment as Santa is busy delivering Willy's Christmas idea for exchanging gifts.

Nice ones! Love the ornate handles.
They're pretty decent for being super-cheap knives. I have two single blades in that same frame (but only the marbled one has your tang stamp, the other just says "CHINA")--one marbled pattern, the other with sporting equipment (cast handle) with a red highlight.
