camillus #72

The Camillus Cutlery Company was one of the oldest knife manufacturers in the United States with roots dating back to 1876. The company manufactured Camillus branded knives and was a prolific contractor for other knife brands up until its last days in 2007 when the company filed for bankruptcy.

Finally received this one late yesterday. A Camillus 72 Swell Center Whittler late production with Black bone handles. It has the Camillus double line tang stamp with the same stamp design on the shield. It has the black bone handles, and shows no wear or evidence of ever being sharpened after production. The blades are tight, no wobble and great snap. They have the original finish, but do have some minor age spots on the blade and springs. The blade well is clean. The pictures were taken after removing the package from the shipping carton. I've done nothing since other than oil the blades.

Today I add this CAMILLUS 72, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife to my collection. This was one pocket knife out of a lot/group of four that I purchased, but NOT for this particular knife.

It required no cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Very nice skip, beautiful blades and doesn't look like any shrinkage on the handles. Nice score. Since that wasn't the one you bought the set for, just keep me in mind if you get tired of her. ::woot:: ::woot::

That's a nice one for sure. I have a black bone congress like that and the bone is amazing.

My most recent addition to my CAMILLUS 72 collection is this knife. It's a CAMILLUS 72, black bone, 3 blade, swelled center, 3 5/8" closed, "whittler" pocket knife. This is the "PLAIN" or "NO ETCH" main blade variation of this pocket knife (thank you doglegg ::handshake::). I now have all 3 variations, the "PLAIN", the "DUCKS" and the "OLE SMOKY." All 3 have the same shield and tang stamps. It required no cleaning. I took some pictures (the first 4) and here it is. Also pictured, are the other 2 variations of this CAMILLUS 72.
