My Latest Boker

I picked up this Boker back at the beginning of summer, Boker Plus Tech Tool Zebrawood 1 (01BO843).

The last one was made of copper, micarta and n690. It disappointed me, it is made well, I would say excellent, but the grease on it dries too quickly and after a couple of days metal shavings start flying out of it when you open it. Because of this, the spring even sank down a little. I ordered a Quick Release, I hope this will help. It is also very difficult to sharpen it correctly, the burr is very flexible and does not want to disappear. I am much happier with the older Slimline Trapper. It had a celluloid handle that imitated mother-of-pearl. Apparently it began to decompose and the acid ate away the blade. At some point the celluloid turned into dust and simultaneously began to secrete a lot of viscous liquid. I took it off and discovered that since the factory production the pin had broken one of the overlays (cracks in the brass). A small repair was made - overlays made of G10 were installed. Now it is strong again and I think it will serve my descendants too

Here are my two latest Boker finds this month. Both are the 182 model commonly called the Camp or Humpback model. One is a pre-WWII model in bone, the other is mint 2020’s manufacture in stag. The older one was acquired at an estate sale/auction.

Yes, it was broken long before I got the knife. That is not the reason it is on it’s way to Boker. The can opener does not lock down under spring pressure. During the last 5 weeks three humpbacks have found me. This one was in the worst shape.

Wow Snake, I have that same copper barlow and it is perfect. One of my faves. Really surprised at the differences in quality. I was into Boker Solingens when I first started collecting but not anymore.

Maybe I was just unlucky, if someone didn't remove the burr on the hole in the blade, it can wear out the copper pin very quickly
