Larry, nice tractor! Is that pallet fork attachment what you use to move around your collection of antique Case knives?

What size is the new Kubota tractor, Larry? I know several folks with Kubota's and they all speak well of them.
A loader lines up right next to being "as handy as a pocket on a shirt" or maybe "the best thing since sliced bread" . Can't do without one!

Mr. Philip, its a Kubota 3100 Hydrostatic ( 33 Horse ). It's all we need now since we planted pine trees. Do a little bush hoging and road repair.

This is my birthday present. It's an Echo 266t.

My old Sthil only lasted me 18 years. It's still running, but rough. So off for some shopping I went. My Sthil dealer also carries Echo and when I mentioned tall wet grass, fence rows, etc...the dealer said he wouldn't go with Sthil right now. He said they've complied with the latest emissions standards and the carburetors just aren't right yet, won't run like the old ones.

He turned me on to the echo which is the high torque model, still running on the older emissions standards, and was cheaper with a better warranty. Not many dealers like that anymore.

So I got the trimmer and the brush blade kit.

Tape a Skilsaw on the end of your weed eater.

Is that a quick and easy conversion?

That's kinda what's going on there. Not as many teeth though.

Yeah it's not bad at all. Just pull that guard and head spacer off and put a bigger guard and a different spacer on. Takes about as long to do it as it does to type all this out.

I won't use that but three or four times a year. But I wanted a shoulder strap for this trimmer and it was going to be $20 to order one. Or I could buy the brush kit for $60 and it already had a strap and they had it in stock. So I sprung for the brush kit.

I tell ya, the ergonomics and smoothness of this big commercial type trimmers sure has improved in the last 18 years. Using this one ain't nothing compared to that big ol heavy one I've been using, and this one had a lot better torque.

Tell me the USA is know and love ain't on the way out.

I have an Echo and love it. Don't need a brush trimmer, but I have the edger and blower attachments.

BTW; anyone needing a good shoulder strap for your weed eater can just take one off an old gym bag or other shoulder carried luggage and they are more comfortable than the ones they sell at the garden shops. Of course, it has to have snap links on it, though.

What is that Jerry? Sounds like he's ok but will he keep the cut worms away?

That be a Dragonfly and I'm pretty sure they don't do cut worms, although they may do the larvae. That's okay. So far I haven't had any trouble with cut worms.

Off topic, but I read an article in an old Gun Digest back in the 60's re' honing one's gun skills by going to a pond side and shooting dragonflies on the wing with a pump .22 and rat shot.

Sounded difficult.

Dragonfly larvae (helgramites) are some of the best fishing bait you can use. Used to find em by turning over rocks in the creek bottom. Fish can't resist them.

That's so true, Ken. Got to watch 'em though. The hellgrammite will pinch and the dragonfly will bite.

I watched a dragonfly today try repeatedly to mate with its own reflection in the black paint of my SUV, about twenty minutes of effort before it went off seeking a more cooperative partner.

And on another note, we are having a limited hatch of the seventeen year locusts here, although given our average yearly temp, they don't usually take seventeen years to hatch.

I love cicada summers.

I think Ray Bradbury wrote a short story by that name.
