What caliber is the Mannlicher?

8X57R. The Mannlicher is the M1895/34 shortened and re chambered in 1934 from 8X50 to make it a stutzen, or bush rifle as we would call it. I have the period ammo pouches, sling, bayonet and stripper clips with it. The sling was the toughest piece to find. Very rare in good condition.

I only shoot them a few times a year. Ammo for the 303 and Mannlicher is too expensive for plinking. The Mannlicher kicks like a damned mule and is a lot of fun when you get used to it, but it cost $1.30 to pull the trigger.

5.56 NATO on the chambering. It is a hand lapped, CMV, Match barrel, that is setup for the heavier for caliber bullets with 1:7" twist. Match trigger, NiB bolt carrier group, etc. I've been shooting 77gr - 80gr bullet weights and it is super accurate. The only downside to the rifle?? It weighs 9+ pounds. But... I built it for accuracy, not lugging around for endless miles.

Not sure about the other stuff but this 5.56mm provides a tight group in an attractive package.

I brought this one home today, UltraCarry II. Last November my wife got her CCDW and went gun shopping. She liked this ines best and put it on layaway until I could get down there and pick it up for her Christmas present.

Unfortunately, a couple days later she had what we later found out was an MS flare up. We found out that on a bad day she can't work the slide of a 1911. Son back to the lgs we went and she got a Glock 26 9mm that she can work on a bad day. Our LGS let us keep this one on layaway for a while and I brought it home today.

I'll tote it and when she feels like it, she'll shootnit. Of course, she got to fire the first shot this afternoon.

My LGS (where I am sure I pay the rent each month) got in a Coonan 1911 full size chambered in .357 Magnum. My understanding is they perfected use of this awesome cartridge in a slide gun. Yes Desert Eagle offers one at the weight of 4.5 pounds empty.
They say Coonan offers some sort of "shop gun" discounted price if the gun belongs only to the shop and it's not sold. From what I understand that means this will be used as a range demo for my gun shop. Not sure I'll drop the two grand that it would take to get one. But I sure like to take it for spin when I comes in. Here's a link to the one that they had. There's some pretty cool videos and reviews on the Internet also.

I've heard of the Coonan, I've read it's the end all be all. I have no experience though.

I did get the .45. That's what Valerie had originally picked out. She loves shooting officer sized 1911 45acp. I prefer shooting my commander, but this one is accurate, it's 45, and it carries real nice.

Jerry it's a real pussycat to shoot. Kimber does a good job springing them. It actually has a two piece captive spring guide rod like some other modern pistols. It soaks up a lot of muzzle flip.

That said it's small and alloy framed so it does recoil more than my stainless Ruger commander sized 1911. But still much softer than even a 4 inch 357 smith imo.
