It's not what you'd call a "pocket knife" but when I'm headed out into the bush it goes with me. As I was getting ready to go out to hunting camp to make some repairs to our "lodge" ::doh:: (it's a shack for cripes sake), I thought of this thread. This is my favorite bowie (Geeze! I have WAY too many favorites! ::facepalm:: ). Bench Made By Randall Gilbreath, Parker-Edwards, Jacksonville AL, USA, #247 of 1500, 16" OAL. This ain't no wall-hanger boys, it's a wonderful combination of beauty and functionality and it goes with me every time I leave the confines of "civilization". ::nod:: Leaving after lunch and back tomorrow evening! ::ds::

Nice idea, shooting the pic like that. Hope you don't mind that I stole it. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Hope that doesn't sound too creepy coming from a man sitting here in his skivvies with a camera in his hand! ::facepalm::

Good Golly but that Bowie is what I've been looking for in a fixed!

Not what I could AFFORD mind ya!

At the moment (and heading to bed momentarily) there is nothing on me but my glasses and Samsung Galaxy S.

The little Case 6229 1/2 here on my desk bit the heck out of my thumb yesterday! And it is but one of many here close by!

Lately, I've added a Northfield #66 serpentine jack to my EDC … just a nice size frame and useful blade combo.

Of course I'm still keepin' a 72 lockback and my Spyderco PPT with me as well … ::nod::

I bought that bowie back in 1987 for about $180.00 (my wife almost killed me). There was also a run of 1500 made with Damascus Steel blades, they were going for a little over $200.00 (the wife would've killed me for sure). I'm not sure what their value is now. Mine is not mint, it takes and holds an edge like a champ and had field dress more than a few deer. Marbels is offering a crown stag bowie with a Damascus steel blade (made in China now,of course) at a pretty reasonable price. I've been tempted to order one even though I don't normally buy Chinese. SMKW has them if you are interested. It is a beautiful knife but is it truly functional? If I buy one I'll give you a report on it's usefulness, if you grab one let me know how it performs. Deal? Meanwhile I'll keep my eyes open for another Parker-Edwards and give you a heads up if there's one for sale. Remember, knives are like ammo, there's no such thing as too much or too many.

Northfield is good stuff! I don't have any of their knives at present but have been eying one of their trappers longingly for awhile now. Then, of course, you must remember that I'm like a fat kid in a candy store when it comes to knives! ::facepalm:: ::shrug::

Those are beautiful Mike, hard to beat a #72.

I am headed to work here in a little bit, I'm trying to pick an EDC. The #73 and #71 are arguing on who is going to join me today, then all of a sudden this one jumped in my pocket and I didn't even notice it.
