What's not to like? I would be EXTREMELY pleased to find that knife at an estate sale!

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Got this last week. I think it is from 1981. The stag is beautiful and the scrolled bolsters look amazing!
I don't know why they are upside down. How do I fix that? When I touch each picture, it shows it right side up.

Case 6375 Large Stockman, 1980. Bought off of Knifeaholics AAPK store last week. OH

Tell a little where you got it. A dealer, antique store, other knife collector. And filled up as well, Wow.boykinlp wrote:Got this last week. I think it is from 1981. The stag is beautiful and the scrolled bolsters look amazing!

Ooh - that's really pretty! I always like it when the bone color kind of fades out at the bolster in an interesting pattern.Old Hunter wrote:Case 6375 Large Stockman, 1980. Bought off of Knifeaholics AAPK store last week. OH

I went to a local gunshow on Sunday and saw it. It was being sold by another knife collector at his table. I wanted the set, but did not have the cash to buy them. Since he is local, I asked if he would hold them for me until Wednesday. He agreed.
From my research, they are from 1981. The set is 1 of 1000. Each knife has the same serial number on it. I understand many sets of these were broken up and sold individually. I have seen the presentation case alone sell for $100-200 on eBay. The stag on the knives is superb. I was wondering if the scrolling on the bolsters was done by hand or some other way. If anyone has any more information on this set, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Larry that's a great set to own!
If you have Steve P.'s (knifeoholic) book Collecting Case knives there Is a pretty extensive piece in there about the stag handle sets that Case made starting in 1976 through 1981. Each of those years they made 1000 special sets with the engraved bolsters. You're right about many of them be broken up and sold as I have one of the Muskrats from 1981. A great set to have . Congratulations.

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
FarSide, doglegg, and Greg, thanks for the replies. Turns out to be an instant stag Case Knife collection.
I never could have afforded buying them individually from the prices I have seen on eBay. And like I said earlier, the wooden case by itself is bringing a lot. It was in very nice condition too.
Greg, do you know if Case has an "in house" engraver or if they are machine done?

Re: Newest Case Pick-Ups
Larry it would be my guess that those bolsters are engraved by machine but I don't know that for a fact. I have one of the 1979 engraved bolster sets and the engraving is identical to the 81 muskrat that I have so I say machine done.
