I New Hampshire, where I grew up, there were literally thousands of miles of "stone walls." Though they were generally not as meticulously built as those in the above photos. Glenbad may chime in here.

My ancestry came to America in 1634 and settled Newbury, Mass. The original family home, built in 1646, is surrounded by such walls, though they are low and not nearly as high as those in Kentucky.

Yes, I can definitely attest to that. In fact, here are some that skirt my property line. As you can see, they are more or less built from stones found on site, and used to mark out property lines.

In the old days, stone walls lined both sides of all major roads. I recall reading about someone that built stone walls for a living in the pre civil war days. I think he got paid something like 10 cents per rod of completed wall. I think a rod is about 16 feet.

I think it's now Fall in the Southern Hemisphere, so when did you take the photos of those beautiful flowers?

Spring is in October, is it not?

My earliest grandpa came over in 1640, and helped to settle Woburn. I'm sure the original homestead is long gone.

Yes! Spring is in October; although as you can see by this chart below, winter can be OK.
I did not see snow, until I was about 25 years old.

In my opinion, Terrigal NSW is the best place to live anywhere in Australia.
The best places to visit in the Sothern Hemisphere are:
Lord How Island, New Zealand and Tasmania.
Northern Queensland and New South Wales.
Some of the Islands in the Pacific are the closest thing to heaven.
I can post some photos if anyone would like to see some of these places.

Next month I'm taking my wife to Norfolk Island, it is also a place to see.

Next year I'm going to fly to Vancouver, and spend over a month on Ships, trains etc.
Then from Vancouver, our ship will take 5 weeks to look at the Hawaiian Islands , New Zealand and finally back to Sydney.

I for one, would love to see pictures of Australia. It's held a long time fascination for me. It might be a good idea to start a new thread, "Pictures of Australia" then other Aussies plus those who have had the good fortune to visit could add their pictures. Just a thought.

In my part of Texas we have the rainy season and the hot and humid season.
There might be ss many as three days a year when a convertible car would be perfect.
Another round of rain should be along soon.

Mmmm, could be a 1963.

I got no way to say for sure what year it is. It is inside a locked up fenced area.
There are a few Buick Convertibles and more than a few modern cars in the place as well.
If I could afford to do more than pay attention I'd try to grab the Impala or the larger of the two Buicks!

Inquiring minds are needing to know. Does the rear side square down or is it pointy to the rear?? Can't quite tell from the photo......

Thanks for the blow up Jerry. I think that locks it down to '64 for sure. Now back to looking for the thread where Jerry talked about runnin' 'round the house in his skivvies, so's I can comment on it!!!
