The 825RB was actually made and sold from 1964 to 1988, per the Schrade Knife Reference Guide in this link. People can't find the Razor Blade Stainless knives sometimes because they are in a separate sub-catagory far down the Open Stock Knives list. Click on the link, find Open Stock Knives and click on it. Scroll way down until you come to the “RAZOR BLADE STAINLESS” T.M. KNIVES section. There you will find the 825RB.

Schrade Knife Reference Guide
https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/co ... nce-guide/

825RB knives with the Schrade + tang stamp were produced and sold in the last few years leading up to 1988. The knives made from '64 to '73 are tang stamped in at least 3 variations of Schrade Walden which was the name of the company then. Some with the 825 stamped on the back of the blade. The company changed it's name and in '74 the tang stamps changed to the 4 line stamp shown below. Then some time after that it changed again to the 3 line tang stamp with the model # stamped as SS825, also shown below. The last tang stamp appeared in the last few years of 825RB production because they changed the previously used stainless steel to the new Schrade + steel. These knives came with and without the Razor Blade logo stamped on the blade. I only own 2 of the knives pictured and the rest are from my photo files I keep on my laptop. I chose the pics that showed the stamps best. Hope you don't mind me correcting your post. It was driving me nuts and I got a little carried away. LOL...OCD

Hi Mustanger, np I was looking at the section above the one you referenced where it says 71 thru 72 for the stainless. I see the section you are referencing, thanks for the link. My tang stamps look like the last, (bottom) of the pics you posted.

I don't know what the hell a 825SS is. That did not used to be listed there. Not long ago someone said they couldn't find the 825 on that list. And it was because it's listed down below in the Razor Blade Stainless section. Just like you can't find the 855RB unless you scroll all the way down to that section. Someone has added that 825SS recently cuz I confirmed what I just posted not long ago when someone posted they couldn't find the 825. There is no 825SS. I don't know why that just showed up on the list recently. If I'm having a brain fart, someone show me a rare 825SS that was only made for two years. ::shrug::
Have a great day, Coinfolio.

I'm with you on this one. Just another tang stamp or shield- same knife. Some of the early ones were bone with milled backs and some had PAT. PEND. etches. Very likable little fellows.

Since you brought it up, after I posted that last night I wished I had included a pic of an early pat. pending knife. I assume these are the earliest 825RB because of the pat. pending on the blade, before the double edged razor blade logo was put there. These are nice with the ringed bolsters. And if one looks closely you can still see that the word Stainless on the shield still has some of the original red ink in it. Snazzy! This one isn't mine. It looks like maybe a thawk picture of one of his knives. I have one, but not quite that nice.

One that I have before they went to that extra marketing. This one is obviously used. Bone, with two different stainless stamps on two different blades. I like it especially because of the milled back, but one cannot go wrong with a little bone!

Really nice, and sets itself apart from the rest with back and different stamps!

Yes sir! The only bone 825 that I have has jibbed liners too. And I notice that the 825 stainless steel stamp on yours is different than what I'm use to seeing, and different than on mine. As a matter of fact, as I remember, you are the one who clued me in on bone 825s years ago. At the time I didn't know they were regular production back in the day. This one that I have seems to be something special since no one to date has ever told me they have seen this configuration of bone, shield, ringed bolsters and single side mirror polish on the clip blade only. I'm disturbed that I haven't added a production bone 825 to my collection and it may be too late.

As a matter of full disclosure, I did have a brain fart when I posted earlier that recently someone couldn't find the 825 on the list. I was wrong. Back in April a newbie was looking for info on the 855RB, and I helped him out. I mis-remembered. (a term I never used to use) This post-stroke life is kicking my ass. I apologize for that rant.

But still, have you ever seen or heard of a 825SS with,...“Western”; Slim Premium Pattern; Ss clip, sheepfoot & spey blades; N/S liners, bolsters & shield; Bone Stag handles;
Nickel silver liners?? "Western"?? I wonder where Dale found that knife to add to the list. His research is all fact based off of genuine hard copy. ???

I'm such an airhead that I keep forgetting that I have this SFO "wavy" bone 825 too. ::dang::
Ordered by a livestock feed company named MoorMan's, (on the shield). Ringed bolsters and mirror polish on all blades. No jibbed liners though. But polished bright. The only other one I've seen is Doug Webb had one. You wouldn't believe me if I told you what I paid for it. I got really lucky on ebay with this one.

Some very nice Schrades being shown! I've yet to add a bone Schrade to my fleet...may need to rectify that.

Received this one today. Picked it off the bay. A pre-1961 Schrade Walden USA 735 Mariners Knife with Marlin Spike. It has the black composition handles, and had the bail instead of the later produced (1961 and after) thumb lever spike lock. Rope blade tang stamp reads SCHRADE WALDEN U.S.A. on the mark side and 735 on the pile side. The blade has no wobble, has gator snap but does show some wear at the tip. The Marlin Spike has positive opening and seat, with strong snap on closing. Bolsters do have some small scratches but cleaned up well.

Smitty, that is an unusual 735. I have never seen one with a bail. And the ones i have had all have "Stainless" under the 735. Is the blade on yours stainless or carbon steel ?

I just received this nice, clean 8ot. These still pop up on the bay from time to time but most are heavily used. It was nice to get one in like new condition.
Like new Schrade 8ot

And I grabbed this lightly used Schrade Walden 825 stainless. Not as nice as the others posted here but should make a nice project knife.

Thanks Joe. From what I can find by looking at older Schrade catalogs at https://collectors-of-schrades-r.us/Catalogs/index.htm, The 735 is not listed in the 1947 Schrade Walden catalog, but "IS" listed in the 1953 Schrade Walden catalog. In the description it says nothing of stainless and only that the blade had a glaze finish. In the 1957 Schrade Walden Catalog the number is changed to 735L and it says the blade and Marlin Spike is stainless, and the marlin spike has a lock. but in the photos, it still shows the bail. in 1961 the 735 is configured with the marlin spoike lock with thumb lever. so i am figuring the bails were at least from the 1950's to 1960. As for mine, I see no lock or any attachments for any lock for the Marlin Spike. As for blade and spike material, I haven't done the bluing test yet, so not sure. But when I first received the knive, the blade was tarnished and dark, and the Marlin spike did have spots where it contacted the seat of the spring. I did not buff or brush it, just soapy water, some #0000 steel wool and then rinsed with wd-40 and compressed air before putting some flitz on the blades, bolsters, and spike.

Smitty, thank you for finding and posting the information about the early S-W Marlin Spike knives
Here is a thread i started about the "Marlin Spike Mystery": viewtopic.php?f=64&t=58187&p=686461&hilit=735#p686461
Basically, most of the locking Marlin spikes do NOT lock. The locking tab on the tang has been ground off. This can be found on as new, never used 735's.
The ones in which the spike lock works i think are from the first couple of years of making this design.
Read the link and let me know what you think.
