Just read the other day that the Sig Saur has been selected to replace the Beretta for the military.

SIG SAUER Max Michel designed SIG Custom Shop 1911. Called " SIG 1911 MAX" All sorts of whistle and bell enhancements. He is Captain of the SIG Shooting Team and pretty darn good at that.

Outstanding Jerry!

The 2 things that catch my attention are.... the flat face trigger and the speed hammer. I'll bet the sear break is phenomenal on this one. Really neat package!

You'll have to give us a range report.

Thanks Wade. I am a DA/SA fan so the 1911 is not my first choice as far as controls and even ease of takedown compared to my other SIGs that I can field strip in about 10 seconds or less. That statement is strictly from an EDC/ Carry perspective personally because they shoot really well on the range. But man, I fell in love with this gun when I held it.

Garry, Yes the Army just chose the P320, unknown caliber at this point to replace the Beretta M9. The SEALs are also moving away from the long coveted and standard issue for years SIG P226 9mm and going with the Glock 17.

Thanks Dave. Trigger and hammer was first things I noticed. Certainly can't take any more meat off that hammer. Grip is phenomenal and I like the straight pull trigger. Pull is billed at 5 pounds. Crisp for sure. The Dawson Precision Mag Well is huge. I like the Dawson adjustable rear sights alot. Helpful for a guy that is left eye dominant/ right handed. Front fiber sight is bright. At 44 ounces, should have negligible recoil and fast follow up shots. Only the range will tell. If it it off, blame it on myself, not the gun. Will provide a range report if the weather cooperates today.

Correction: The report from the SEALs is, they are switching to the Glock 19.

Yep! the skeltonized hammer is what I think they call a speed hammer. I think the flat face trigger gives the shooter better feel and trigger control. I love 1911's. Yes, they are bit more difficult to field strip but this is outweighed by how they do everything else so well.

I carry a 1911 every day. That said I wouldn't kick any of the Sig's out of the gun cabinet. I've shot the Sig 1911 ultra compact and I loved it. I've also shot another friend's Sig p320 in the ultra compact variation 9mm. It was a real good shooting carry gun as well.

In the store the other day I handled the Sig p930 (?) it's anothe ulra compact 9mm that's a lot like a tiny 1911. It was a pretty cool little gun as well.

Carry in good health Wade. The 1911 is a fine design, no doubt. Awesome guns. Only drawback I personally feel is thumbing down the hammer on a live round if one desires. That said, I just like DA/SA option.
I do own two SIG 938s. I believe they bill it as an "micro compact".
It it essentially a 1911 has no grip safety with a 3" barrel. Feels like a big gun. I carry that as a daily backup to a variety of big boy SIGs.

In the last month I've had the opportunity to hunt with all three of my Browning Auto-5 semi-automatic shotguns. The 16 gauge is a Belgian (from the pre-Sweet Sixteen era) while both of my 12 gauge guns, a Light Twelve and a Magnum Twelve are Japanese. I really enjoy using these old school Brownings. OH

I would just have the safety on, cocked and locked. If you want to unload, just drop the magazine and jack the slide, catching the live round in the air with your hand.

There is a sweet sixteen in my LGS. Not in the best shape for 900 bucks. No idea what they are worth.

I've been resisting a long time and so far still holdin' out . I'm right there with you on the blue steel and walnut and for years I was a blue steel wheel gun only but look at me now, carryin' some polymer framed olive brown/green lookin' thing .
One of my friends got a "Mattel Toy" in 300 Blackout that seems pretty interesting.

Plus one on that Dogg. Great gun for coyote. I am more old school like you and the rest of the boys here but I own the same one (MP-15) without the high front rise sight as I recall. Not sure on the front sight part only as I resealed the box and never pulled it out, that was mid last year. Thought I might save the MP-15 for the grandson when he is ready to give it to him.

My SIG M400 and Bushmaster AR-15 have kept me plenty busy. What great fun.

I also bought a MP15-22 in obviously .22 cal of course last year. What a fun gun also. Sounds like a pellet gun. Very quiet. Pain in the rear to load the 25 round magazines though to the point that they actually sell a machine to load the mags.

I like it Dogg! I'm like TF, I surely love blues steel (or stainless) and walnut typically. Hit I shot a friend's AR here while back and man was that thing fun. And very ergonomic!

Lots of guys at church have gotten them low and I've been bitten by the bug too. So since I like to tinker with guns I'm about to buy a stripped lower and do the Johnny Cash thing. I'm gonna build one one piece at a time.

That's a beauty Dave what caliber?one of my twins is going to get a Windham Wepondry in a .308,they use to own Bushmaster made in Windham Maine

5.56 NATO on the chambering. It is a hand lapped, CMV, Match barrel, that is setup for the heavier for caliber bullets with 1:7" twist. Match trigger, NiB bolt carrier group, etc. I've been shooting 77gr - 80gr bullet weights and it is super accurate. The only downside to the rifle?? It weighs 9+ pounds. But... I built it for accuracy, not lugging around for endless miles.
